It's just not going to happen due to price of car and insurance. In the mid 70s Corvettes started moving away from the youth market. Even if they could cut options to drop the price, most youth want all the gadgets. I love Corvettes and I'm still young, but I'd much sooner buy a '63 Split Window opposed to a '13 Split Window.

I believe so. Problem was it looked too vanilla. I test drove a 2004 when it came out but the dealer was asking a $12,000 mark up despite the fact the GTO was not moving off the lots. Greedy dealers.

That concept is just.... disappointing.
I've always thought that Corvettes should follow the beauty of a woman. Perfectly sculpted hips with a just the right amount of material out back. The curves continue up the body until they catch your eye again. The eyes of an angel perched on a perfect face that gives you that look. She may have a mouth on her and hard to handle at times but.......

anyways....
Imagine the woman that that THING represents. Would you want to be with her?
Imagine the size of the teeth she would have!!! And dimples are cool, but come on! LOOK AT THOSE THINGS. Let's not even think about the back end...
Unless the price point and age bracket is identified, there's no way to know what the C7 may entail.
Personally, I expect the targeted population will be male, single, late 20s to early 30s with a price point between $35k - $38k for a basic 6 speed coupe.
A ~4.0 liter supercharged V8 with 500hp (ie a baby ZR1 engine) in a 3100# vehicle would be killer and still help GM meet CAFE requirements.
If it looks decent, I'll be first in line (after the dealer premiums go away
)
I highly doubt GM is going to "Honda-ize" the Corvette.

Remember, the Corvette was NEVER aimed at the younger crowd. Every previous generation was priced out of the reach of most young folks too. The reason sales have plateaued is that the design is getting stale....The C6 and C5 look too much alike, and it's a 15 year old design. Sorta like another generation that we know that was around for a long time.....
And face it....the Corvette is a status symbol for a lot of middle aged buyers. Would they WANT something that every backward hat wearing living at home with mommy working at home depot part time three kids by three baby momma hip hop loving douchebag can afford?
No. GM knows their target audience with this car. They will hit the mark.

Mustang is taking sales. That's obvious just from spending time on this board
Look what they have done with their platform to market it to a younger crowd. They didn't need to change the basic architecture to achieve that either

That vette that was on the HRPT was the car they used in Transformers. it's not the new vette or even a concept according to what I saw and heard on Hot Rod TV.
I also have pic I took of it and posted I believe.
But they can't appeal to the younger buyer, earning power is going down for the youth as it is, they don't have the extra cash for a 2 seat play toy.
Ain't gonna happen, if they try it will kill the vette. But never underestimate the ignorance of obama and his GM car czar

At Carlisle, someone had a kit for an 80 corvette to make it look like a C6,actually didn't look that bad (for what it was). However, like the SSR and HHR fiasco, Chevy seems to want to make the C7 look like an 80 Corvette, one of the most unpopular designs. I guess they got tired of the gold chain crowd, and decided to go for the mullet crowd. Of course, there is also the thought that after that car anything they do bring out will look better.

Mustang has always targeted the younger market since they were first introduced. Nothing really new in Fords approach there.
Good advice.
And it's worked for 47 years now.
