3/8 ratchet extensions are too thick. I use a screwdriver "nut driver" with 1/4" socket on it, with 1/4" drive extension if needed. if all you're doing is removing the cap, no need to rotate the distributor, unless you plan on timing it. because you'll have to.
also any body knows a good DIY for c4 engine tuneup.. I think Iam going to try it by my self. since all the mecanics I know are to busi for me
I missed this part. If you need a guide, a manual, the Haynes is ideal for what you are doing. The Factory Manual is more comprehensive, but is intended for trained GM techs, not the diy'ers. also, your 86 version of the FSM is not readily available.

Thank you. I thought I was the only person on Planet Earth that thought that.
Let me rephrase that: IF you are going much beyond a simple tune up the FSM is absolutely essential. There are some DIY'ers who, me being one, who get far deeper that the Haynes level.
loosen the distributor hold down clamp and rotate the distributor
And I removed the 30 screws that holds the drip edge to the cowl. Kinda more work than necessary but it worked great and allowed access to do what I needed. Didnt have to mess with the timing that was already fine tho.
