Went to start the 94 Vet I bought yesterday and no power.
I replaced the battery and it started right up.
My question is about the altimeter (voltmeter). It is showing about 16, really close
to the max. I put a meter on it and I am showing 14.8 volts which is normal for a chevy.
Are my amps to high?
I replaced it with an optima red that was in another car of mine.
Will go buy one when I know that is the issue.

Congrats on the purchase.
Sounds like your cluster is off just a bit which is not uncommon with the 90 - 96 clusters. Charging voltage will vary slightly at various temps and RPM.
I did not know about the digital gauges.
The normal gauge has come down some.
The digital gauge says 14.4 volts.
Voltmeter, as it's showing the alternator voltage output.
Ammeter would be current. Most cars do not have an ammeter in it.
Altimeter is usually for aircraft.
14.4 volts on a new battery is not bad. After a few hours of charging, it should drop down a bit. Anything over 12V and under 15V is considered normal.
At engine idle ,anything above 15V usually indicated a bad voltage regulator, and under 12V is usually a bad battery.

just having fun, frenchsquared..
Early cars thru the 40's, 50's, 60's all had ampmeters for current draw. Most all have voltmeters now. Our C4's are too low for worrying about altitude (altimeter)
