I agree with meeting lots of good people at the shows i go to and it's easy to see most of them have a considerable amount of time invested into their rides.
I really like to show my 86 and drive it. About 4000mi last year. I guess I receive 12 to 15 awards a year. This year a attended 20 shows and received 19 awards.
He didn't say where from! We don't give out trophies for autox, just 1st through 3rd stickers. I've got a whole stack of them.
We get a small token for the weekend courses and a trophy at the end of the year for high points in your class. They could do without the weekend ones, just more clutter in the garage. We use to get small cheap plaques then it got down to sponcers coffee cups. Hopefully next year they will just forget a bought it and just do the year end thing.
I entered two Corvette only shows, enjoyed them, and took home two trophies and the shows were not my Corvette club sponsored. I also drove my '91 10,000 mi. in the last 12 months. It now has 72k mi. So, you can drive your car and show it too. It's more work keeping it show condition, but that's what I enjoy doing.
Got my '92 is 2008 and started showing it that summer. Since then I spent one year in Europe working and had a LS3 hot cam installed. So I've been able to show the car at shows in AZ and CA for about 28 months during that time. So far 34 awards. Most of them are in classes for C4s or vettes in general, but some are like "Best Paint", "Best Contemporary", "Late Model Muscle", etc. I try and pick and choose what shows to go to based upon the classes since I am definitely a trophy hound. Of course here in the Phoenix metro area there are a lot of shows to choose from every weekend. You can see pics of the car, the build of C4orce2 and most of the awards, by googling "C4orce2" and go to the photobucket.

Have nothing to prove ? You are better off not to register because all of my friends and I are not in it for that we know what we have and don't have to prove it to anybody including you. I bet you have been to show where I was there.
You never know how you will do at these shows. One example was a show I went to in southern AZ last year. I heard it was a fairly big show with over 30 classes. Turned out there were over 525 cars there and it was participant judged. There were only two vette classes, C1s-C3s, and C4s-C6s. In the second class there were 18 cars made up of 2 C4s and the rest were C5s and C6s including one ZR1 (completely stock) and several Z06s (mostly stock). When it came time for the awards, the ZR1 took first, of course. But my C4 took second and the other C4 took third. The Z06 owners were a little upset that they couldn't beat the C4s, especially since I had absolutely no club support at all. I only knew one person at the entire show. The C4s did well because the other car owners appreciated the modifications we had done to our cars vs. the other vettes that were simply bought and driven to the show completely stock. Modified cars often do well, at least here in AZ. I have found that to be true even at all vette shows. When my car is against mostly stock C4s, I have a very good chance of winning. You never know what will happen and I never go to a show expecting to win. That way when you do, you are pleasantly surprised!
