Yes they are coated. Thats why they dont look like garbage after years of use. Stainless will fade and blue over time...

Oh ok, i always thought stainless > coated. I guess i worry about the ceramic coating chipping. Melrose and SW both seem like quality pieces.

Thanks LT1-C4

edit: Does anyone have issues with stainless headers and heat? I know you need to watch heat around the starter, but is that it?

Before I bought my headers I talked to the owner of ARH, he told me that stainless steel headers do not need to be coated.
I checked him off my list just for that. If you are going to spend $1000-$1500 for headers whats another $200-$300 for coating.

Default Tuck Position??

Do all or most of these headers "tuck" up well under these vette bodies
enough not to be "unsightly", drag or bump?

The OBX are fine, can't say about the rest.

From my expereince, I would not buy EM headers again. Granted I got them through a group by and they have held us fine thus far, but fitment was terrible. For headers that cost almost $800 I would expect no issues with fitment. Take your money elsewhere. If I could do it over again, i'd probably go with OBX.

Heres a vid of the exhaust. its the melrose headers, melrose Xpipem Randomtech CATs, and NO mufflers.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bCzElkJE-tc
That's a great sounding system. It's a little too loud for me in my old age but I still have enough youth to remember when that would have sounded perfect. The video was a bit confusing though. How did you get the car to stick to the wall?

Thanks for giving us some credit, we do make really nice headers. Adding a ceramic coating will greatly reduce under-hood temps and provide a timeless appearance. We use a Jet Hot coating called Polished Extreme Silver which almost looks chrome when completed. Standard finish is a "mill" finish, which will turn a tan color after being run, but this is normal for 304L grade stainless. The good thing is they will never rust.

Keep in mind every piece of the header you buy from Stainless Works is American Made 304 stainless, including the flanges, collectors, merge spikes, etc... ALL USA

Could you PM me pricing on headers+y-pipe with all emissions fittings for a 91 with and without the ceramic coating? It sounds like stainless+ceramic coated is the way to go, for durability and lower underhood temps.

Stainless and Ceramic is the way to go for sure, you will never need to replace them again! Coating is an additional $400, benefits overcome the cost by far.

I HAVE RAN MANY BRANDS OF HEADERS ON MANY DIFF. CARS,I NOW AM TO THE POINT AS FAR AS HEADERS GO UNLESS ITS SOMETHING USED FOR OFFROAD RACING.OR FOR AN APPLICATION FOR WHICH THERE IS NO STOCK EXHAUST,I KEEP IT STOCK. KEEP THE STOCK MANIFOLDS.ESPECIALLY A VETTE,THERE HEADERS ANYWAY.I MIGHT INCREASE THE PIPE CAT AND MUFFLER DIAMETER TO GET A LITTLE MORE AGRESSIVE SOUND.I GUESS I'M JUST TIRED OF REPLACING BLOWN GASKETS AND WORRING ABOUT HEADER HEAT I THINK MOST OF US JUST CRUISE ANYWAY. ON TOP OF THAT ,YOUR IN A VETT. YOU DON'T HAVE TO PROVE ANYTHING TO ANYONE. JUST WAVE GRIN AND KEEP CRUISING

Some of us use our corvettes for more than 6th gear cruising. I want more power and better sound. I'll stick to good quality headers
