My vote goes for SW I put a set on my ZR-1 a few years back with the coating and they still look new.

No joking here! haha You always get what you pay for, we at SW strive for quality and we expect the same from our vendors.

We use Jet Hot which puts a high temp coating on both the inside and outside of the headers. The Jet Hot Polished Extreme Silver coating can handle 1300° and will look good for years to come. I personally have seen customers with a few years of drag race abuse on their coated headers and they still look like new. Its a great product that shouldn't be overlooked.

You only get what you pay for has nothing to do with paying too much for the same thing. Jet Hot is only a name, not worth paying twice the price.

I put Stainless Works on my 95 coupe 50,000 miles ago and love them. Now let me say that I did not get mine coated ... and they did turn color within 100 miles ... for me that is not an issue. With the stock resonator & stock dual exhaust my car sounds fantastic

Are the Stainless Works headers round ports or do they match our D ports?

Standard port is round 1.625" and is easier to use with a round tube. We can add a LT1 D-port flange at your request, we just need to make the round tube fit into the D-port which requires a little squeeze to make it work. This is why the round port works better!

Melrose bolt in. No issues.

But unless you start at the intake and work back headers are the single most expensive performance item with the most chance to disappoint as far as power gains.

Again Melrose is a good choice because they build that set especially for C4 and TPI performance [ and fit] specifically. LT1, LT4 likely gain a little less bang due to intake length, et all

OBX and others are built to fit and performance is a lesser consideration [ $300 400 headers]

So if you are going for fun and looks the OBX seems the way to go.

Performance ? Melrose and more stuff?

No hit against anyone saving a nickle, it's just I don't like buying Overseas stuff for the Vette .. silly .. sure... just me.

I'm not too concerned with huge power gains right now. I'd rather get the headers and front Y-pipe now, and put my whole exhaust on at once. It's mainly for sound, and possibly some extra gains when i do a small cam/runners next winter.

Would this be silly, without OBX 13.6 1/4 mile, with OBX 13.2 or would it be silly to think that Melrose would lower my time even more ? so what state was your TV made in ?

It's an old Sylvania ... tag just says USA? It is called a Cathode Ray tube .... you might have seen one at Grandma's house?

Thanks for the condescension by the way.

Having raced since 1965 I have observed that ETs vary, a lot, for a lot of reasons : Barometric pressure, Air temperature, track conditions, tires wear and temp, waiting in line 30 minutes!!! , a bad hot dog affect my reaction times???

Think what you want, but tuned headers work better than Super market headers.

OBX and most are made to "fit" the car not the actual engine configuration.

It's marketing. Most folks want nice looks and sound, Right? OBX look like pretty nice units. But so do $400 Hooker headers.

So why does Hooker make Super Comps and sell them for $700?? Well because they work better.

Don't believe me? No matter. But HEADMAN states that in their advertising. I think Hooker does too, and the price reflects it?

Melrose happens to be a good choice because it is moderately priced unit because they made these way back when Chev had the Corvette Challenge series.

Pretty sure ?? ... But you check RICHARD ... 'cause I'm old, with a crappy US made TV, so what would I know?

dont mean to hijack this thread , but i hope someone could educate me about headers. i want to put headers on my 94 coupe this winter but dont really want it alolt louder. right now i have stock manifolds, deleted the cats, left the stock center muffler on, then put a magnaflow axle back excaust on it and i love the sound. so is their any secret to " quieter " headers? im assuming headers made with thicker gage metal will be quieter. anything else i should know ?

Well I am not sure, but I do know that OBX are tuned and I dont think any other brand would make more of a difference in my ET then these, so how does the HD converter work on your Sylvania . Oh yea how did you my name was Richard ? or were you calling me something you wish you had ?

Grass hopper I know all...... spooky huh?

Now don't get postal, but OBX aren't a tuned header...

They look good, fine quality, and they beat the snot out of the stock.

They don't suck .... they aren't a bad choice ... The price is a big winner..........

But they just aren't a tuned header. The tube lengths are wrong.

Now ask OBX to produce a a dyno pull and then we have something to talk about?

I don't rep Melrose, get no money from them, it's just they are a tuned header and produce the Hp?

Seat of the pants is affected by so much... like I said.. a bad hot dog can screw your et.

Ok Great Master how do you explaine the 4/10's with the install of the OBX , there are those saying that OBX are copies of SS works and ARH headers, so they are not tuned too, WY CHANG KAINE, so did I ****** the pebble from your hand Master

Surely, Grass Hopper you can see dumping the L98 exhaust makes for better breathing.

Better breath = more toque. More torque quicker times!!! Might not make you faster [ intake chokes L98 right at 4800rpm] ... but quicker getting to 480 rpm

And 4/10 is "Real Good" . OBX is cost affective, so you win.

Still not a tuned header?

Now you bring up an ugly point. How do you think ARH and SS works feels about getting knocked off and their price undercut ??

Ow... Probably not to good...

It would be interesting for one of those guy to chime in and clear up if I am full but crap?

I'll climb out a little further ; I would guess if they had a header tuned to L98 it would differ from LT1?? and LT4 would be a little different too?

Headers are part of a system starts at one end ends at the other.

Again ... that is why Melrose would probably give you 5/10!!
