I was using Valvoline racing oil it has Zinc in it you can get at NAPA auto parts, But you have to ask for it it's not normaly out on the floor it in back it for off road use only because of the Zinc in it.

Link:

I now have a roller motor so I dont use it any more.

Other wil tell you Gibbs Oil, AMSOIL all great oils but you have to order them and wait for the oil show up in the UPS truck, while the Valvoline At Napa.

Look into Mobil 1 0W40 European Formula. It has plenty of Zinc in it.

Relatively new synthetic designed specifically for this type of application:
AMSOIL Z-ROD 10w30 Synthetic Motor Oil (Product Code ZRTQT)
(zinc – 1440 ppm, phosphorus 1320 ppm)

I'm more than happy to get the above for forum members at dealer wholesale, about 25% below retail, via the AMSOIL Preferred Customer Program. Drop me a PM if interested.

No it doesn't, not even close enough for flat tappets.

Nope, not quite enough either.

Here is a list for Mobil oils, only their 15W-50 and racing oils have enough zinc in them for flat tappets.

Shell Rotella = diesel oil, different additive set than gasoline engines. I wouldn't use it in high performance application.

I use Redline 10W-40 (in BBC) which has about 1330ppm of zinc in it.

Shell Rotella is a great oil, used by many motorcycle drag racers, I use it in my bike, and I turn up to 12,000 rpm, makes a SBC look very slow in comparison
