Default Interior

Has anyone used the Carbon Fiber interior kits? If so, which one(s) actually works well?

Also, I am sending the speedo cluster in to get restored, as well as the power seat sliders. However, who should I send my sport seats to to restore all the buttons and bladders and such, both sport seats need restoring. I know that the smartest thing to do is to go with a different seat, but I love the sport seats and want to keep the interior as stock as possible, except for the CF details.

Thanks!

No experience with the carbon fiber kits, but I have used the rolls of 3M Di-Noc Vinyl carbon fiber. It's Pretty cheap on eBay, (seller MetroRestyling) has a great textured feel to it, and doesn't look like a "sticker". I also have the materials for hydrographic printing carbon fiber, but it's a trial and error learning process and I'm def still in the error phase.

If you want an interior the looks like it is covered in stick on carbon fiber, get one of those kits. If you want an interior that looks like the fake hydro stuff, go that route. If you want actual carbon fiber pieces, either call in another favor, make them yourself, or get out the check book and write a big number on it to somebody who has the talent and the resources to make them.

I'm not being a smartass... the options are pretty simple in this case. Stick on parts look like stick ons, the fake stuff looks decent but you aren't fooling anybody, and the real stuff takes either a lot of time and talent or a lot of money. It's your choice from there.

With your vast resources and the capabilities you can't rebuild a seat? My father in a wheelchair rebuilt/re-covered the seats, and rebuilt the seat tracks in his C4 in a few hours in his living room. Pull the seat out, if your switches are worn, spend a few $ on some new ones, pick up some new covers and foam, take them apart, and put them back together with the new stuff. Advanced mechanical techniques and specialty skills are not required.

Or... if you really just feel like spending money, you can always just send them somewhere else. I'm guessing any local upholstery shop would be glad to take your money.

Mid America and Zip have Speedo Console rebuilding services. Mid America being $30 cheaper. And CorvetteSouth has power seat track rebuilding services. They are all relatively inexpensive and would save a lot of time to just send them in while she's at the body shop. I have Engine, Chassis, Drive-train, nitrous, dyno and forced induction and Body resources; interior, not so much. Would rather have a pro at this stuff take care of it, right the first time. I have an interior guy I just met doing the seat recovering and the rest of the interior, not sure he can redo the sport seats bladders and switches. He said he will have to get into them to see. It's just that I found where to have the cluster and seat sliders rebuilt, wondered if there was a place that does the same for my sport seats, as I have not found one yet.

So, does anyone have an opinion if these guys are good or who can rebuild my sport seats?

Thanks!

P.S. I like a smart ***, being one myself...

You can apparently swith clusters, but the mileage in the computer of the car you put it in is what it will show, not the mileage of the cluster you switch out.

This is something a first semester High School auto shop student could accomplish in an afternoon and have the car ready to go cruising with his buddies that evening. You don't need a specialist....you need parts and a pair of hog ring pliers (actually, you can get by without those...you'll just tear your hands up).

Nothing mysterious lurking within.

No problem guys, I just needed some advice on my Vette's interior. When nearly any shop need a set of heads CNC ported, they farm it out, magnaflux, line bore, bore and hone to specs, farm it out. A motorcycle shop doing a Corvette interior or body & paint work, again, farm it out. Every shop farms out some of their work. I farm out interior work, Vette speedo cluster recalibration work and body/paint work. If that sounds strange, yhen you do not have a shop. Guess no one listened to the mod on the 2nd post...

This is my last warning to those who feel the need to post crap any further. Take your posts as to who's who offline. Otherwise you will not be here for Christmas.

Here I am with today's date and my Wrap your a@@ in Fiberglass shirt and my Godspeed Ink doesn't wash off! If I don't match up with my videos on my site then I am full of it. If I do, several owe me an apology.

I've looked at a few CF kits, but with my '88, none looked right. I plan on simply painting all of the dash pieces with a satin black. If there is a nice CF kit, it'd probably be more than I really want to pay.

OK, after the first of the year, take a drive down to El Paso. Stop by Al Knoch's shop in Canutillo....Al supplies most of the upholstery you see in the big catalogues. Order the bladder kit HERE.

Gimme a little advance notice and I'll help you re-do the seats.
