Maybe someone can help before I get raped at a brake place. The victim is a 91, 70,000 miles. Hit brakes today, pedal went to floor, took 3-4 pumps to recover, added fluid, not much, problems continues, Brake light on until pumped up, however the pedal is firm after pumping. Previous owner claimed he put a new booster on it before.. Any ideas where to start?
thanks
Just buy a quality remanufactured unit. Ensure that you bench bleed it before installing or you'll never get all the air out. Once it's bench bled, install, and gravity bleed all 4 corners starting at the furthest (RR) and working to the closest (LF).
Appears rebuilts are hard to find. I found one at remartusa. It is a Cardone. About 140.00. Can't seem to find a rebuild kit for my 91, but found this one
Any opinion?
Might look here Follow the selection sequence to get to '91 Corvette and in the Brake Wheel/Hub section, look under "Master Cylinder". There are 8 to select from including a Cardone reman unit, and all new from Carbone, Raybestos and AC-Delco.
While you are replacing the master, you might want to consider replacing all of the flex hoses at the calipers if they are original or older than 10 years old.
You will wind up with needing all fresh fluid so select a good DOT3 fluid like Castrol LMA, Valvoline or even the Ford HD Motorsports fluid. You will need at least 3 of the small 12oz bottles, or get a quart bottle.

I got a full set of 4 stainless steel lines delivered to my door for $100. Search parts forum for brake lines. The guy's forum name is COPO and he had 5 sets, Baer brand. You will like the difference it makes. Cheers!
