It should pull off without breaking the sensor, with the one on my 84, which is a similar style, a steady pull and a couple of wiggles and the connector came off. If you should break the sensor Ecklers has them for about $40. LOL

Electrical connector pinch
You need to pinch the sides which opens the retainers on each side snapped over a round bulb looking insulator. If you simply pull on it you will break the connector housing. to put it back on you just push on it until it snaps. You are hooked up. Hope this is helpful.
