need some opinions guys. looking at purchasing new c5 wheels, currently have sawblades on my 94 vert. you can't see thru the sawblades so balancing isn't a big deal. On the new 5 spoke wheels are the wheel weights that obvious since they are so open? FYi i have stick on weights on my current wheels. thoughts, opinions, suggestions!
appreciate any input.thanks
Find a reputable tire shop that has a Hunter GSP-9700 "Road Force" balancer. This system allows the tech to balance a wheel/tire and split the balance weights along the wheel. A good tech will also move the tire around the rim to lessen the total number of weights required.
With this machine, it's possible to place weights directly on the inside of the spokes so they are not in view. Weights can also be placed on the inside of the rim on the back side too.
New wheel weights are no longer lead per federal regulations so expect more weights by number than before.
One thing you can do with the weights is to paint them in a color to match the wheel rim. That will keep them from standing out compared to the chrome-like finish of the new style weights.
I had my wheels balanced on the hunter 9700 never any problems
