Hard to say. The hole may be repairable, as it doesn't look to be in a structural area. I would be more concerned with the probable destruction of the headlight mounting area. I would think that area would be harder to fix properly.

Is that fiberglass sticking out the hole, or deer hair?

Sorry to see and hear about your car.

I can relate. I hit one at about 65 on a small local highway. I missed the one standing in the road, but another big one jumped out right in front of me. I hit him square. (see the leg marks on both sides of the lower bumper fascia). He came over the hood and hit the headlights like yours. One of mine just disintegrated and the other broke just the body colored shell. The headlight impact flipped him over the roof and saved me. If they didn't flip him up, I think he would have come right through the windshield.

Damage on my car was replacing one headlight assembly, one headlight cover, and if you look at the picture, the entire hood and front end shifted off to the left. You can see more of the right tire sticking out. The first body shop screwed it up so that the adjuster said it looked better after I hit the deer than after the first shop fixed it. Insurance was good to me and the second shop fixed it good.

Good luck with getting yours back together.

Consider yourself very lucky. In our neck of the woods we have had 4 deer hits' worse one was a big buck and my wife's Equinox about 8 grand worth air bag didn't deploy and no one hurt. Worse thing, and I am speaking from experance is hitting a 1200# cow (black angus)early morning 45-50mph in my full size Chevy P/up it was raining like hell wipers full blast and I was slowing down. YOU COULD NOT SEE IT sideways in road. Hell it ripped the master cylinder off the firewall and the ony straight piece on my truck was the tailgate. Hell the roof was even bent and the front crossmember was knocked bad along with the center transmission support. Had to be carried out, 6 months later had kidney sugery and still having some issues today that was 3 years ago and still havn't settle with the guys insurance!
GOOD LUCK and Count your blessing's

Damn!!!.... I do consider myself lucky,it could very easily have came through the windshield. I take that route a lot of times on my Chopper, dont even want to think how bad that could have been. Good luck with your medical issues.

Hi
That damage looks so similar a friend hit a kangaroo here in Australia with his vette, (the damned things should have reflectors)
All the damage it did was the headlight and headlight mounting hardware, not often can one drive away so he was lucky.
Maybe the vette is designed for minimal damage from wildlife

Couple years ago my nephew swerved to avoid a deer & lost control & hit a tree. Doing about 35 mph totaled his car. Ready for this The ****&%^ trooper gave him a ticket for "driving to fast for the conditions". 35 in a 55 it was wet out! My brother hit 3 deer at one time in a tractor trailer. the deer exploded & wrecked the front of the tractor. Thought he was gonna loose his job,he was only the a couple days. They thanked him for not wrecking the whole truck.

A friend of mine was in the car following the car that hit the deer. The deer got thrown up in the air and came right through his windshield. It was a fatal for the deer...and the friend.

Glad you're OK.

Never have hit a deer with the vette although I have had a couple of close calls. A couple years ago I hit a small doe with the DD. Punched a hole in the bumper cover, busted a fog light and the plastic grill area around the light. Shattered a head light and bent up the head light housing.

I got my first estimate today, also first chance Ive had to take a good look at it.Thanks to my G/F she noticed spider web effect in the top. When the deer hit the passenger side windshield it must have transfered the impact to the top.

Glad you're OK; scarry to hit critters!
Biggest thing I ever hit was a Russian Boar! Must have weighed half a ton! I was in a full size '69 Chrysler going 70mph and it stopped the car! Like hitting a big rock! Good thing was, it was a company car, so I didn't have to hassle with it; just walked away and got into another one.
