I have a 89 l98, i was driving home a couple nights ago and the engine just died. I found that have no spark. I have replaced the ignition coil and module and still nothing. The BATT wire does have 12 volts to it when key on. Any will help thanks.
Try opening the EST connector (single wire connector between the windshield wiper motor and power brake booster -- it could be buried under the windshield wiper motor). That will eliminate the computer.
Take the distributor cap off but connect the three wire connector and the BATT connector to the cap and make sure you have 12 volts on the "+" terminal (red wire) of the ignition module.
It's possible your pickup coil is bad (under rotor inside distributor). Measure it with an ohmmeter across the P and N terminals of the ignition module. It should measure about 800 ohms (that would be 0.800 on the 2K range). If that's bad you have to take the distributor shaft out of the distributor to replace it.
