No, I have a cheat. The previous top was so mis-installed (another typical melrose headache phone call topic I'm sure), that I had to learn how to set it up previously. This one went on in a jiffy- I even didn't have to completely take apart the trim. I leave the brackets slightly loose and tighten them partly in position. Then I take the top off, scribe the position, then tighten it off the car going by the marks I made.
You can adjust the height without taking everything completely off as well. Mine passed the 'dollar bill' test.
I can see why they are a bit brash over there- probably hear the same stuff everyday even though their website and paper instructions tell you exactly how to do it.

Sounds great! If I ever need a new top I know where to go

My Melrose top passed the dollar bill test and I installed it exactly how Melrose said to install it. Which was to not adjust anything since they used my frame on the rebuilt top. The lense warped all over a couple of months later when it got hot out, in the fine print Melrose says for you to roll down your windows when it's hot out as weird things can happen to their top, but who's going to do that? Then it cracked a short while later. The previous top that was on there for years didn't warp or crack. I had other problems with the top as well that I had to fix. I paid alot extra for them to refurbish the frame, but it looks like a 5 year old spent a couple of minutes and sprayed the frame down with rattle can paint.
I called Melrose about it since the top only lasted a few months and was still under warranty, but Melrose stated that once their tops are out the door, then you are on your own. Melrose then offered to sell me another top and stated that top would be warrantied against warps and cracks. Yeah right.

Well my experience has been totally the opposite. My C3 headlight assemblies were perfect and they spent a considerable amount of time on the phone stepping me through installation and getting them timed right.
I couldn't be happier or more impressed, great company!

Well, you haven't called them with getting something replaced under warranty yet. When I placed my order, everything went fine like what you are talking about. No problems. Though Melrose did mention something about how they hated this forum, which I thought was odd.
Melrose did hype their top warranty when I was placing my order.
The problem was after I called them about getting the top replaced under warranty. That's when their attitude changed to "once the top is out the door, then you are on your own." Amongst other things. Imagine if GM talked like that. Melrose didn't honor their warranty, then they thought they could sell me another top to replace their defective top and specifically stated the new top would have a lifetime warranty against warps and cracks. How convenient. Sounded like a scam to me since they didn't honor the warranty on the top that I had already bought from them anyways.

I guess I would have to get a bad part before I have to worry about their warranty program. And yes, I used to crack the windows as instructed for my top's sake.

I guess hope that you don't. As I know Melrose told me that they have only honored their warranty on their tops one time. That was when they made a batch of tops with defective glue.
