How do you rank 'em?

Melting Slicks
number one, on looks alone, 1961 or 62 C1. They're iconic. They are part of our collective subconscious. Look at contemporary ad's or commercials (most of which have nothing to do with automobiles); if there'e a car in it, its probably a 61 or 62.
number one, on historical significance, every Corvette generation owes all to the C1. They got v8's; they got manual transmissions. If Zora Duntov and innumerable privateer's hadn't been so successful in developing the later C1's in road racing, the evolution of the Corvette would have probably mirrored that of Ford's Thunderbird. And what a waste that would have been. The 1953 C1's proved that production cars (and every subsequent Corvette ever made), didn't have to be made out of steel, but could be made out of fiberglass (or similiar composite).
number two, the C2. Revolutionary in its time. The basic layout for almost forty years. Front engined v8, independant suspension, four wheel disc brakes.
number three, C5. Not my favorite on looks, but in its way, almost as revolutionary as the C2 : a brand new engine family; brand new transaxle and drivetrain layout; way stiffer chassis.
number four, C4, longest production run; not quite revolutionary, but improved in every way over anything that came before it.
number five, C6, a refined C5, but not revolutionary.
number six, C3; essentially a C2, but without the attitude. The styling on the very first years (hard bumpers) was very nice, the middle years, not so nice.

But I have noticed you can make each of them look really really good or really really bad.
My favorite are the last of the C3s. C3 was such a long run it covered my entire childhood (born '69) almost up to getting my permit. All my early Corvette memories are C3.
I respect them all; even the 5.
Good poll.

Maybe this question should also include the age of the guy responding...
I'm 68 going but think like a teenager..and i currently own one C2, three C's , one C4 and one C5...
For looks alone the C2 is just has it all classic good looks and raw power..The 68 to 72 C3 chrome bumper Vettes had "space age styling but also had raw power...so I like them ..period...
The C4 ??? good car and I like their looks (especially the rounded over 92 thru 96) BUT nowhere near the "mechanical feel" of the earlier cars...
The C5 started to get back with teh "feel" of the car and the power while not great was enough to put a smile on my face...
the C6 does nothing for me..or I should say not enough to make be sell my c5 to buy one..
