I recently put a new mass air flow sensor on my vette. It doesn't have a fine wire in it, it has some sort of circuit board in it instead. And ever since, its "governed" at 115. The Rpms go down so its just cruising and not accelerating anymore. Could the MAF have a limiter? It sounds like a retarded question, but its all I can think if.
That is the "blade" style MAF, which is what the newer cars use. It's more robust than the old hot wire style.
The MAF measures the amount of air passing through it and reports that to the ECM. Your ECM-MAF combination may not be compatible. The ECM sees a voltage from the MAF and converts that into airflow. Maybe the conversion tables need to be adjusted for the new MAF.
I have a blade type MAF sensor in my 89 vette. Mine came from Blowerworks and is a maf sensor from a 2005-2010 GT Mustang. I had to have the bin files for this sensor inserted into my chip by my tuner to make it work with my car.. I agree with Cliff Harris, if you have the blade sensor but not the proper bin files in your chip it won't work..Let me just add that the blade type unit is 10 times better then the stock Bosch maf ....WW
Looks like its a faulty car. I tried my old MAF and it did the same. I put the new one back on but this time I rolled through the gears instead of DRIVE. It worked just fine.
