C5 guy checking in

Sounds like some of the C5 guys are feeling the pinch that every Corvette generation driver feels when a new series comes out. Yeah...market value - its a cold water bath for sure!

As far as what percent mod their C4s vs. keep 'em stock...that is a good question. (I think I'll run a poll and see what that brings!)
Some will mod their new C7s from day one. But, it would be my guess that the % of those that do mod their Vettes jumps as soon as the mileage crosses some threshold. And, after the odometer has passed that unspoken barrier, then years and then parts availability and relatively inexpensive base purchase cost all lead to more doing mods.
I'm intrigued by your question!

I didn't want to bore you C4 guys with C5 and Impala pics, but since you asked....

The Impala has been the family workhorse since July of 1995. 197,000 miles and no internal engine work. I'm on my second opti and third water pump. Only major repair was a transmission overhaul at 55k! Very average pic here, she is in dire need of some TLC.

Not a Z06, I wanted a hardtop and most Z06 cars were outside of my budget so I set my sights on the 99-2000 FRC cars. This car met all my criteria of color, options, and miles. 49k on the clock when I bought it in December 2010. The way it looked the day I brought it home, an 800 mile trip from Oklahoma City.

I have since added the Z06 wheels when I needed new tires.

I always loved the mod red interior offered only in the Z06 so I tracked down the pieces to make the transformation in my car.

Pics of the seats installed are blurred but you get the idea. Trouble free for the past 3 years and a blast to drive!

Mods for this year, Headers to go with my Corsa system and hopefully a set of Pfadt coil-overs.

and im great at giving cars tlc, just drop that pretty little impala off at my house =)
Any performance type car, or any vehicle really, after it gets some wear and age on it becomes a great platform to start modding. The C5 is at that point in history so more folks will be willing to invest stupid amounts of money in it.
Anybody that says its a bad investment doesnt understand the "Smiles per mile" and thats fine. When they sell their car because it isnt stylish or cool anymore it gives folks the opportunity to build their own dream car.

I am biased though with my FRC and a '96 Impala I had a few years ago (same DCM color as yours but looks darker in the picture)
