Default windshield wipers

Hi everybody,

MY 1984 4plus 3 has ruined three sets of windshield wipers. Does anyone have a brand and model number of a windshield wiper that fits and works on the 1984 C4. The first set I bought fell off the arm. This set got stuck under the hood and broke off from the arm. no damage to the arm. It does not go out n the rain often. But, when it does I want to know that they will work. thank you.

Ps I know it should not go out in the rain

Hey, contrary to popular rumor they do NOT melt, nor do they freeze in ice/snow...

I had a similar problem with AutoZone wiper blades; finally got a set of AC Delco blades that fit as intended but don't have the P/N info any more.

the wipe problem i had was noise. First set was a cheap napa set and they were LOUD. pulled those off and bought another set from auto value and they were a bit better but still dragged bad. Bought a set of rain x blades and there completely quite even on a dry windshield.

Default fit

be sure that when you install them that they clear the hood, i finally had to order through the dealer as none of the auto parts companies had any that cleared the hood. even though their computer said the blades they had were the right ones.

This is the issue I have as well. Too many "exact fit" that either dont fit under the hood or continually fall off. I have zip ties on both of my "exact fit" to try and hold them on and I think they were Trico.

I also have tried a set of RainX's and they didnt stay on either but I dont remember which specific one.

I guess I will give A/C Delco a try. Something has to work right. If you do find that "exact fit" that is true to its name, post it up!

For the OP, make sure that the hood is adjusted properly when it's closed. There's not a lot of room even for OEM arms and blades.

One thing that also works with wiper blades is to get a slightly shorter blade for the passenger side if you have problems with the blades hitting each other. That effectively increases the distance between the blades ends as they cross at the bottom of the windshield and you won't have to remove the arm to do any re-adjusting.

I don't like the new Trico wiperblades. They redesigned all their stuff a couple of years ago. They may have just had them outsourced as they look like any other wiperblades now.

The old Tricos were all metal and lasted years. The new ones have a plastic mount piece, and the plastic piece on one broke not long after install to where it had to be replaced. Then a short while later on the other blade noticed the rubber blade separating and falling off. I barely used the wiper blades.

Previously I had Anco Aerovantage blades on there and they worked/lasted just fine. Will go back to those blades next time.

I have JMK tripledge silicone wiper blades. I got them because I thought the silicone would last longer than rubber.

One thing I've seen wiper blades do is take a set while they're parked. Then they don't want to bend back in the other direction as they sweep across the windshield. That causes them to crab and jump and leave rubber deposits on the glass, which makes the problem even worse. I thought the silicone would stay more flexible and prevent that. We don't get much rain where I live so I don't use them very often, but they have been fine so far.

the rain x blades just barely hit on the hood when you shut them off and the drop into storage. Not enough to cause any problem though
