The two white wires go up the steering column to the key cylinder.
The other end with the White/Black and Purple/white wire go to the Central Control Module (CCM).

Last test.

Take some wire and wrap it around the two male connector pins on the end of the cable going back to the CCM.

This shorts the two wires together going back to the CCM.

Run the test again and after the codes are displayed and 1.0 appears. Follow the steps and see what 06 xxx is. Then turn the ignition OFF.

Turn the ignition back on and see if Code 52 is set.

Will a paper clip work? If not, is there any specific wire you recommend to wrap on the male pins?

Jumper clips, any thing that will short the two wires together.
This will simulate a zero resistance key pellet.
Want to verify what the CCM 06 xxx value is.
Should be 0-5. If not it points to the CCM being bad.

51 should set if a key resistance is in the range of a valid key but doesn't indicate it's the correct key resistance for your CCM.

52 should set when the resistance is zero.

53 should set when the key pellet resistance is to high.

Remove the ignition key from the key cylinder.

Wait 10 minutes.

Disconnect the negative battery cable to clear any codes.
Reconnect the negative battery cable.

With the two pins still shorted together on the end going back to the CCM and Pin A shorted to Pin G on the diag. connector.

Turn the ignition On.

See if any codes display.

If no codes turn the ignition Off remove the key.
Wait 10 minutes then back on and see if any codes set

If yes go to 1.2 and verify what 06 xxx is.

Remove the ignition Key.

Clear the codes by disconnecting the battery cable.

Reconnect the battery cable.

Reconnect the two pin connector going from the CCM to the ignition key cylinder.

Wait 10 minutes.

Insert key and turn ignition On,

After the LCD shows 1.0 go to 1.2 and see what 06 xxx is.

This may sound repetitive but this is a strange problelm.

It's fine. I agree, this is a very strange problem.

When you measured the key pellet on the key itself you read 3030. Indicating it was key code 9.

**********Please verify that again.*************

**********Also verify the contact ridge on the key pellet is good ***

You disconnected the two pin connector and with the key inserted in the ignition cylinder you read 3030 indicating the key cylinder contacts were making good contact with the key.

Now the CCM says the key pellet resistance is out of range.

My conclusion is the ignition key cylinder contacts or wires are intermittent or the contacts on the key itself are worn out.

Do you have a spare key to try?

What you can do is purchase the vats by pass resistor sold by the Vette dealers which will plug into the connector going back to the CCM. Way over priced

Or click on the link below and purchase a kit on E-bay $3.85 that contains all the key code resistance values. Disconnect the two pin connector and solder the resistor across the two wires going to the CCM. That should allow you to start the car.

Or go to Radio Shack and purchase a pack of 1k 5% tolerance resistors $1.50 for a pack of five and place three of them in series. Verify they add up close to 3K ohms.

http://www.radioshack.com/1k-ohm-1-2...sistor&start=2

The proper way to fix the problem would be to replace the ignition key cylinder. If you do that you would need a new Pass Key cut with a code 9 to fit the new key cylinder.

I'll verify that again.
Here's what really confuses me, I got the resitors from radio shack. Since my key code is 9, i got exactly at 2890 with the resistors. Security light still on, no blinking, and no start. Didn't solder them to see if it would work.

2890 ohms is the minimum value and 3150 ohms is the max resistance value.

The desired resistance is 3010.

Anything out side of that range and the CCM should set code 51.

What was the 06 xxx when you tried your resistors?

Did you wait for the 10 minute time out period before trying?

Also when you installed your resistors, you must disconnect the two pin connector or the CCM will be reading the key pellet resistance and your resistors.

I just added another 200 resistor and see what that does. I'll wait the 10 minutes. The resistors connect to the connector with the orange wires, right?

Key is still at 3030. What do you mean by verify the contact ridge on the key pellet is good?

No they go to the two wires going to the CCM. The Orange part of the harness is left disconnected.

The 06 xxx tells you wnat the key pellet value the CCM is reading. xxx should be 136-143.

Put the resistor on the connector going to the ccm. Security light was gone. But now, my car's service abs light is on and my fogs don't turn on. I'm pretty sure the battery is getting low.
