Charge the battery.

Use your voltmeter set to 20 volts DC. Measure voltage across the battery terminals.
A fully charged battery is around 12.7 volts.

Fog lamps won't work if hi beams are on.

Do the headlights work?

You should at least be able to crank the engine or hear a click sound when you turn the key to start.

Here's a picture of the ridge which is on both sides on the key pellet.

It can get worn down.

Headlights still turn on. High beams aren't on. Fogs turn on really fast, then turn off. HID fogs if it makes a difference. Battery is charging. Pretty sure the car would have at least cranked, but I didn't try.

In the first picture it looks like the ridge is worn at an angle or it's because of the angle of the photo.

Second photo, the ridge looks good..

As long as you can run your finger nail across it and there is some material sticking above the pellet it should be okay.

Factory fogs were not HID so it must be aftermarket.

As for the ABS light staying on, if a code is set, you should see a error in Module 9 when you short pin A to Pin G and turn the ignition On.

Module 1 is the CCM
Module 4 is the ECM
Module 9 is the ABS/ASR

My nails catch on both sides of the key ridge. And I'll check the codes for the ABS

Battery charged, service abs light is off, and fogs stay on
I ordered the bypass from ecklers. I know, over priced. But I bought it because it's reversible.

Please forgive my question: Did you handle the resistor part with greasy fingers or lubricate the ignition switch?

No, I actually thought that would interfere with the resistor. Did not lubricate the ignition switch.
