Default Does parking lever push down??

I just replaced the inside console and everything fits wonderfully but I notice when I put the lever into Park the plastic P R N D piece is pushing down and I'm afraid it is going to break. It''s fine and level in all the gears except Park. The indicator seems to go a bit north of the P. Is that normal? The prongs lined up fine when I installed it.

My title probably should have said 'shift' lever. Can't edit it.

You need to take it apart and be sure the indicator is in its proper place. Should fit a pin on shift lever and in a grove on indicator.

Yes, it does fit right. The pin is right in the middle of the groove. It's just the Park position that puts the down pressure. It goes too far forward past the 'P'. It might be one those 'oh well' situations until it breaks. Too bad because the car is so darn perfect other than the headlights which I'm still working on getting fixed. I sure could use a good Corvette shop. Still hunting.
