I went for my normal Sunday cruse today. During the trip I developed a problem. I suddenly noticed that the brake pedal went to the floor when I made a stop. The car did stop, so no accident. I got out and checked the fluid reservoir which I found full. I looked for leaks but found none.
I got back in the car, started it and tried the brakes which worked fine except the pedal slowly went to the floor. When I pumped the brakes I had pedal and the brake warning light went out but if I held my foot on the pedal it would slowly go to the floor and the brake warning light came back on. I made it home ok.
My diagnosis would be a master cylinder failure, am I correct? I would like some input before I order one.
Thanks

Are there any signs of fluid leaks along any of the metal lines or at the rubber hoses at the calipers? If no leaks are found then master cylinder failure is most likely problem.
