Default Need to Replace this...

Hi-
1986 Convertible.
I need to replace this weatherstripping piece on both sides. Does it have a specific name? I see a lot of pieces appear to have a similar shape when looking online.

Also HOW is it replaced? Glue, Pop rivets or screws?
Thanks
Steve

There's a retainer that is attached to the top rail and then the weather-strip is inserted into the retainer and is generally done with adhesive. Good images for 'vert weather-strips are difficult to come by I believe.

Who to buy from? I've no idea whose quality might be best.

A reasonable image to use as a guide:

If you have the FSM then the 10C section is actually pretty complete and a good reference.

When you decide to accomplish the job, my recommendation to you is buy pint of 3M adhesive removal. DO NOT BUY AFTERMARKET.

You need to have that track clean, has whistle for best results.

Number four in this pic is what you want. I used two other manufacturers weatherstripping and then I used Wilcox. Wilcox's stuff is the best I've used. I didn't use adhesive, and it's been over s year hassle free, even at way higher than posted speed limits with the top down.
If you watch the forum , every few weeks Wilcox runs a sale of usually 15-20% off. That's how I bought my new top and weatherstripping. Saved a good bit.
Do not forget to use dielectric grease on your weatherstripping after install, it'll help keep it nice and soft and won't dry out.
