Currently using Mobil One 5 / 30 . I was asking this question because the 84s run so Damn hot oil Temp. gets to 240 at times. I guess at my old age that number scares me
I even use Mobil 1 in my lawn mower. It's run good for the last 25 years!
- what weight? just bought a new generator, and it's due for the initial oil change. I tend to use straight 30 weight on small air cooled engines, so I was thinking 30 weight synthetic. the only thing I've found in quarts, is royal purple 30 weight synthetic. my next choice would be mobil 1 10W30 synthetic.

Blackstone labs came out recently in their newsletter saying the brand of oil has no bearing on engine wear.
One of the lab techs at Blackstone told me he uses Wal-Mart Super Tech synthetic in his vehicles.
I've been using Super Tech in my cars, trucks, and garden tractors for decades. It claims to exceed the GM4718M spec for the 1996 C4 Corvette. It's cheap and protects just as well as the Red Line or Royal Purple, according to Blackstone.
I put in AMSOIL last year wit there Ea filter for upto 24,000 mile interval oil change. Have about 4000 miles on it and the oil looks brand new. I have a oil kit to have it tested but will wait until next spring to do it. By than it will have 8 to 10,000 miles on it plus see if moisture was a problem over a second winter.

I use Mobil 1 5W-30 in all of my air cooled engines. Lawn mower, power washer, etc
any synthetic would be good as others have said, the only synthetic i avoid is royal purple (unless you are using their XPR oil)
ive had a bad experience with royal purples diff oil, its burned up after 100 laps in my racecar where cheap quaker state didnt. however the XPR racing oil seems to be of a very high quality and works well in our race engine but is very very costly
