Default Photobucket Problems

I'm probably behind the curve on this but recently realized none of my photos are showing up in the Forum. The indication is I have to sign up for 3rd party. (Photobucket really changed with the ads and harder to navigate)

What does this really mean, how invasive is this & should I do it. Without it, 12+ years of information I posted is really diluted.

Photobucket has locked up your photos and you must pay them to enable third party linking. To get 3rd party hosting it will be $399 a year.

If you have saved your pictures, you will need to go back and edit the posts and upload them directly to the forum.

If you don't want to do that, but don't have copies for yourself, you should download them back to your computer and load them onto some type of media. You just never know when they will change their policy again and make it difficult if not impossible to retrieve your pictures.

I've been using www.imgur.com to host pictures since photobucket joined the **** party. Seems to work much better as well.

i have been using www.picturetrail.com. however, they can simply start to follow the lead of photobucket. after all, the ice has been broken. once 1 does it, then the others might simply play follow the leader

The forum allows you to insert images directly from your device.
No need for any kind of 3rd party hosting sites these days.

Yeah. And I never understood why people post their pix to 3rd party sites first anyway when doing it directly is so simple. What was I missing on that?

Very early you couldn't post directly to forums, then there was dial-up and very slow connections and very small hard-drives so the PhotoBucket option was very viable. It was very handy and if you stumbled upon a snapshot you liked it was very easy. You'd be surprised at those that didn't own/create most of what they were posting.

As soon as higher speed connections became available, larger hard-drives many just didn't change. They didn't see the need to change and the 3d party links were quite easy to manipulate.

Much has changed!!

First thanks for all the feedback, hit me like a ton of bricks. All the input for a decade not helping others.

All my Photobucket images original came from my computer so I must have all of them. Just going to take some time to replace the images. Unreal how they locked everybody's stuff but they can go pound sand cause I think I can fix it all. Not a penny from me will they get as they have not done a honorable service for the public.

I see now how to directly inset a photo, too bad it was not like that 10 years ago. Looks like I have some work to do.
