Im sure that line is from the old boat joke - "there are only 2 good days when you own a boat, the day you buy it, and the day you sell it !"
Its interesting to hear the different stories
I still have my first vette - 9 years later, as for selling it - Im not sure anyone could compensate me for the 20 bazillion hours Ive spent working on it !
Its just back on the ground after spending 10 times longer doing something than I thought it would !

The end of this month I will have owned Ruby for 19 years. What's she worth? 7 - 10K? I'd drive her off a cliff before letting her go for that kind of money! Also have a C6 and there was 3 more in between. More people than not will say wish I kept my first Corvette! Ruby stays!

Its been a father/son project that my dad started in 2015. I'll never get rid of it just because of that sentimental value; I'll daily drive it before that day comes.

still got mine, 3rd year with it, but its been in the family for well over 10 years. she just got out of the body shop a month ago.
as for price, for fun i listed it at a ridiculous price. if someone wants to buy it for that then ill sell it otherwise shes mine.

My first Vette was over forty years ago. A few since then. But, I would like to still have the “first” one!

A few months after graduating high school I baught my first car out of corvette fever. It needed some work. $3k+ later and I still don't regret it. This was 5 years ago, and its about to get her paint redone and some.
I can't change it for anything and the car diserves more and Im finally going to give it more.

I inherited my first and only Corvette from my dad late last year. Always been a fan but never owned one.
I don't ever intend to sell it - the connection to my dad is strong. I suppose if someone made some nutso offer I might consider it, but I don't see that happening.
Our car is the convertible. My brother in law has a very similar coupe. He and my dad are in the second pic.

Still have my '86 that I bought in the fall of 1985. It now has 91K miles. Drive it at least weekly. Great car. Lots of memories.

Still have my first one, bought it in July 1968 while serving in the USMC in Vietnam, and no it isn't for sale. It has a lot of history with me and has seen a goodly portion of the USA. Intend to leave it to my youngest grandson, if my wife doesn't use it herself.

I do own ( again! ) my first corvette I purchased over 20 years ago! It's a 1996 black coupe/ beige interior lt4 6spd. I had sold it after only a year and a half, as I was selling my house and loosing my garage space, and I could never park a car like that outside. After building my house with a 2 car garage several years later, I purchased a 2009 coupe, sold that, bought a 2001 coupe with an lsx 427 ( got totaled after 3 mos. ) then a 13 grand sport once I recovered, sold that and got a 2004 z06 z16 comemerative pkg... sold that and was Vette less for a little while. I would see my old '96 coupe at shows now and then, and talk with the owner about it... I still loved that car!! The car was kept in absolutely amazing condition, even the undercarriage/ suspension/ exhaust were polished!! We ended up playing " lets make a deal" this past October, and after 20 years- I'm the proud owner again!! The C4 gets a bum rap in many respects, and it is challenging to get in and out of... But I really do love this car!!
I really don't see my self selling it at this time... I'll be 60 this year, and when I can no longer get in/ out of it, that would be the only reason to sell it.
020 My 1996 coupe 6spd. "grand sport" sold it in 2000... see it at all the 'vette shows!! Looks fantastic still, being well taken care of-

My first Vette was an all black 93 and I sold it 14 years ago......I've regretted that decision everyday since. I couldn't stand it anymore and brought home another 93, this time a ruby red anniversary edition and until I can't get in or out of it anymore it's staying put. Besides it plays nicely with my 69 GTO!
