Another thing, 600whp is a HUGE number. That's like 750 crank, and on an Na build would render any corvette all but undrivable. Just something to think about. I know a lot of YouTube videos and anonymous posters on forums make it seem easy and cheap, but those are for entertainment only, and most are complete lies.

EXACTLY! I’ve been to 10 shops tryin to LS swap it and everyone says a number so HIGH they know ima run for the door! Lol I figured 20k would of caught someone’s attention! Lol I bought a “GOLEN ENGINE” Built for a blower. It’s a 383 and should support 700bhp so I should be close to my 600rwhp mark but I’ll probably do a conservative tune to help save the engine lol

He’s a popular builder and this is one of his more popular builds that has been featured in a few magazines. I’ve talked to a lot of people and they say golen is a real good builder so we will see.
If my AFR heads etc don’t sell I’ll just build a nitrous engine with my spare vette engine next

That is a great video. Worth your time to watch.

That is so awesome... obviously the durability would be a big question at those power levels.

Boost is the quickest way for sure...x2 on LS conversions.
The generation that grew up with them swears thats the answer to every power question.

There was a guy here "ICEVETTE"? that had a '96? with LT turbo power at some very high levels.

GM blocks were never designed for it back then.

20k is for the car or the motor or both?

I see you bought the motor. It will be interesting. TT on a 427 gets up to 1800hp pretty common, so I think a turbo 383 will reach your goals.

I think another guy here is currently building a tt 383 too.

Smokey yunick used to say 600 crank hp was limit for stock sbc cast crank, but that was probably for a 5000-6000 lb truck or station wagon which your corvette is not.

so i believe > 600 crank hp is possible with stock cast sbc crank on a ‘lighter’ corvette.
In smokeys day all chev cranks were forged
forged pistons i dont think are required bc look at new supercharged or turbo engines, most dont have forged pistons anymore ! They key is engine mgt and not to detonAte. But those cars still do have forged cranks now though...

x2 on Air/fuel management and a sturdier block (lsx) not sure the older tech could make those parts do what they are today.
Who would have guessed even 10 yrs ago you could get 30mpg run 10s with a warranty..stock. Nuts.

Improvements to quality of fuel and fuel systems were the largest factor. Smokey got 1k hp out of a sbc 209 turbo sbc for Indy. He struggled with the fuel system to allow ot to happen.
Racing normally required specialized parts that American manufacturers weren't willing to put in to production engines due to cost. Getting aftermarket engine parts was expensive.
