Jackwad
Leaving work yesterday, pulled out and went to the light. There was a big rig in the left turn lane, blocking one of the lanes with it's tail and a big rig in the right lane but there was room to slowly sneak between them that cars were doing, Just as I was crawling between them, I hear loud "THUMP"! Some jackwad on a motorcycle splitting lanes decided to kick my Corvette! He turned and gave me a dirty look and I had both fingers posted in the solute position. I tried to chase the jerk down but he was weaving in and out of traffic and lane splitting at a really high speed.
No big damage. A boot scuff and a deep scratch I'll have to touch up on the right rear fender. My car is by no means "show quality" but man....but the original paint was virtually perfect with the exception of a few rock chips on the front that I've filled.
My dad always told me, "There's only eight a-holes in the entire world. They just follow you around a lot." I ran across one of the eight yesterday.

That sucks. You know what I say; My biggest problem in life is that I wasn't born with enough middle fingers.
Sorry to hear about the a-hole. He needs a schooling on the ACTUAL rules of lane splitting, vs. how he thinks it's done.

I got to believe that it hurts like hell and is not worth it.

That eats. Try a soft rag and some WD-40 on the scuff marks. If the scratches are deep enough then you may have to use touch up.

There is a saying... don't be a d!ck... well as long as you aren't I'm not either. That being said, there have been times I've wanted to test the push bars on the front of the work truck...
if it isn't a deep scuff and it is a rubber boot, an eraser can sometimes work. You just gotta be careful.

I ride and for the life of me cannot understand those who lane split. There are way to many asshats not paying attention to make it even remotely worthwhile.

great video showing the person in the vehicle being the *******. White BMW intentionally cut the bike off.

Actually, it’s not funny. Semi could have rolled right over him. Lane splitting is perfectly legal in California. Problem is most people in cars are self centered ******** who think they own the road, and god forbid anybody gets around them. Most people don’t see bikes or think about them, and my guess this is what happened to the OP.

Yeah well in my opinion there's lane splitting and there's safe lane splitting. I only do it in stopped traffic or very slow moving traffic where I can avoid people changing lanes suddenly. I suppose I'm going to have to stop doing it though because I've just bought a Can Am Spyder and it will have to be a big gap for it to fit through.

As a motorcyclist, it would take one helluva big motivating factor for me to initiate a boot attack on a cager.
I did enjoy watching this one, though again who knows what preceded the kick.

All my road bike friends that I grew up with are dead. None of them made it past the age of thirty. Motorcycles do not belong on the same roads as cars.

I still can't picture what really happened, based on what he posted.

I seem to recall it being under certain conditions but I could be remembering wrong. I also recall my friends that ride telling me to treat driving around them as if they are driving a large vehicle because they "deserve that respect" and then they go and do stupid **** like that. The flow of traffic was 90. Som bikes get interesting around 100 and they were going a hell of a lot faster than that. But some people have a death wish so... imo if traffic is moving at a normal and safe speed there is no need to lane split. You're just being a jerk at that point and taking a risk that you really don't have to. To each their own though.

Maybe, but very hard to prove. Easy argument could be made that the BMW SUV cleared the semi and was going to pass the car in front of him on the right. Or the BMW was going to move over to let the motorcycle by because he saw him coming in the rearview and din't anticipate the bike was going to cut in between.
