Poorvette
That being said. This does thin the heard. It has the potential to get more people into the hobbey who could or would not otherwise.
In fact the c4 is my favorite vette and my second favorite all time car.
I bought this one after my divorce, and when State farm totaled it out I couldn't stand to see it die, so I bought it back and have been messing around with it for years. Finally ive stumbled upon a combo that I can probably afford to build.
There is a lot to a C4 corvette. But at its heart it was a track car. The vetteKart/hack phenomena do not diminish that, they honor it.
I can get the yoke on. And get it inside the cbeam. But what i cant do is get the yoke to actually go into the rear seal while everything is inside the Cbeam.
Im trying to drop the cbeam entirely but so far even the impact wont budge the rear bolts. And then if I do get the cbeam off will it go back in with the driveshaft i stalled ?
So when I tried to roll it over by hand it appeared to be locked up.
So I was like... Ok, I will give you $500. Just needed a diy valve job and a couple valves I pulled out of a head I scrapped.
I sold the shrtblock but kept the timing chain and cam. Traded a few parts for the rockers and headers and used the shortblock from the engine I stole the valves out of.
Viola!

4 hours into it and I was defeated.
When starting a project thread, at least start out by telling us what the project is, the what, why and how. My first impression was that you had a beat up C4 for which you were replacing a blown engine with what you could find that gave enough performance for really cheap. And after reading a lot of posts I still wasn't sure what this was supposed to be. And I'm not inclined to wade through a lot of the kind of seemingly random posts that find their way into some project threads to find this information.
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
I love that little motor, still say make SURE your go through the suspension bushings and components. This could be a death trap REAL quick.
post vids of it running, I am interested in the sound of this thing. Do you plan to make it sound nutty with special exhaust? I would go straight pipes or cherry bombs and be ridiculous.
The D44 I got came with new poly bushings and Stainless break lines as well as an adjustable sway-bar, it had a lot of high-buck pieces from that corvette touring challenge race-car, but he didnt want to use it because the C beam mount was cracked.
So, I have not investigated yet, but all I should need are the ones on the car side of the rear Diff..and maybe a couple other.
As for exhaust... I will be using the stock pipes and the existing magnaflows, with maybe a crossover and a resonator or two. I want it to be QUIET! The supercharger whine will be STUPID loud.
Spent three days trying to install the transmission before I realized that I needed to clearance the tail housing for the reluctor wheel.
A little scored...
So, may be tomorrow the trans actually goes in followed by the motor

I was intending on building up a 3800 car and started looking for deals on 3800 parts. In the search for parts I discovered a website dedicated to GM V6s that had a lot of 3800 RWD projects mostly trucks, but it captured my imagination.
Fiona was spared for a 4th time...
Ive spent the last few months test-fitting, altering, planning and traveling to get deals on parts. I have a ton of fab work left to do and I have very little experience in this kind of work so its a long way to go, but I'm getting there.
Parts list
2004 naturally aspirated bottom end. (9.4 compression)
2006 GTP top swap with ported heads and LIM
ZZP modular pulley system, lowest pulley so far is a 2.9, but I will go lower
Nortstar throttle body
Ls7 lifters
105# springs
Manley retainers
Intense racing guides
Ls4 MAF
WBS belt wrap
80# injectors
Yella Terra 1.8 roller rockers
INTENSE™ Stage 1X Blower Cam, duration @ .050": 210/221, lobe lifts: .321"/.329", valve lifts with 1.60:1 rocker arms: .514"/.526", lobe separation angle: 115, intake centerline: 111 (lift 576/592, duration about 220/231 with rockers)
Rollmaster double roller timing chain.
trans is from a 97 camaro
rear end is a D44 from a 96 corvette
Ive a few ultra light peices from a "touring challenge for corvettes" race car
I have a lot of parts on hand from vettes and GTPs.
loan star performance engine harness (painless)
ZZP stage 2 IC with FMHC and Bosch pump
Z06 repop rims with 11.5x19 rear tires and 9.5x18 fronts
old RCI fuel cell converted to accept the C4 fuel pump
Hydroboost from a 95 astrovan
Varios oil/trans/PS coolers from scrap cars
Secondary electric fans from a 99 Acura Integra
New dash is the bumper from an 85 Rabbit
I am useing a lot of wireing and relays from scrap cars
And steel/aluminum from an 83 Kenworth.
I think its worth noting that almost without exception I have nothing but used parts, mostly from vehicles that were scrapped.
I have spent less than $2000 on the entire project and have traveled over 2000 miles to collect the parts.
My silly plan is a track car with 400+ HP weighing between 2200 and 2500 with interchangeable front and rear bumpers that are of varying weight and balance as well as adjustable shocks so that not only can the car be balanced for different conditions at the Auto X but also for daily driving and drag racing.
Post edited due to a valid criticism. In truth I expected to get unhelpful comments, and my original post may have contributed to that being a self fulfilling prophesy.
Test fit,
Corvette filler and pump in a fuel cell.
VetteKart
Mean
Pretty
C4 tailshaft on 97 camaro trans.
If you need any parts my buddy has an L67 short-block and misc other parts he might want to sell. I don't remember if the heads are ported or what the specs are. He ended up with a cammed L32 in his car. A month after he put the L32 in someone drove into him and the car was totaled. He never got to see it on the track.
I hate that C beam.

This 4l60 will not hold it very many times either..
But im counting on low wait and limited traction to keep it going for a while.
But I got this one for free, and hope to stockpile a couple spares.
