There's lots of kits out there with different installation methods whether it be in the lighter, the radio, stand alone, and I even saw one you could install in the sun visor some place that caught my interest. Actually, I think it was a sun visor with the camera already built in, I just didn't wanna do that since I'd just spent a small fortune on OEM replacements. Also saw some that work with your rear view mirror some way.

I'm right there with you on that, though. I wanna do the same thing.

Might even be a way to hook up a bluetooth camera to your mobile device if you have one of those window or dash mounts for your phone and just do it that way.

I think a standalone camera is probably the best way to go.

Have not seen sun visor but have seen interior rear view mirrors with the reverse camera display built in.

Unless you are willing to pay a bit of money for installation, or have someone that will do it for you, get a wireless backup camera, maybe even one that has its own screen.

If you do a search on my userid, you will find some threads on how much I had to take the car apart to install a touch screen radio and a wired backup camera. The labor time is significant.

Once I have the time, I want to install a
double-din Kenwood with Android Auto double-din Kenwood with Android Auto
and it also has a front and rear camera hookup. Ideally I'd like to hook up both but I'll be doing the rear at the very least. Since it's a short run back to the plate and there's really not a whole lot to do in terms of picking up the carpet in the hatch area, under the seats, etc. it should be very, very easy compared to a traditional car.
All you need then is one of those cameras the mount onto your license plate All you need then is one of those cameras the mount onto your license plate
and you're done. I'm not a fan of wireless backup cameras considering everything interferes with them.

As long as you are going to be drilling holes through the body and just throw the wires in. There is the hole that antenna wire goes through, but not the easiest to get through.

If you follow the routes of the factory wires, not so easy. As I said, go find my posts on installing a radio and camera. There is a reason why the places that install radios commercially charge as much as they do.

Then, depending on the depth of your radio, you might have to cut some of the structure behind the factory radio, and depending on the year of your C4, and radio options, patching in the wires, getting everything to hook up correctly. If you have a Bose system and patch into the factory Bose radio, you might have feed back issues.

There is more to just throwing it in. I choose the way that I wasn't putting holes through the body.

I did mine and it was pretty easy. I made a new hole below the antenna hole, sealed it with a grommet, and ran the wiring under the carpet. Took an hour or 2 not hustling at all.

That supports what I was saying about why places that install radios/etc into C4 Corvettes charge so much. I did mine myself after getting a quote. I took the time to wire everything along the same path that the factory did. Alongside the transmission hump, through the bulkhead hole to the back compartment (my car is a 96 and had Bose). I ran the wire for the backup camera up under the left side rocker, along with the factory wiring.

Around here, some of the labor rates are $100.00 an hour. Justified ? Who knows, but that is what it is.

2 hours at that labor rate will buy a pretty nice wireless system with screen that will be easy to install.

Thanks Guys I found a wireless one on Amazon That looks like the way to go simple wire the power to the reverse light wire and mount the transmitter in the hatch back area.

You're right about the wired backup camera.
