Is the new C8 growing on anyone? When I first heard of a mid engine Corvette I said GM has ruined the car, it tradition, and the hobby. Then I started hearing people were paying $20,000 over sticker price to get one. I have only seen three so far and for brief moments, never really up close. I must admit I am having second thoughts even though my mind keeps telling me it really it nothing more then a cheap Ferrari in theory.

I see them all the time around here. In fact I was just talking to guy in the store parking lot the other morning who was driving his. I asked him how he liked it. He said he loved it. They're very nice cars. I think my next one will be a C6, though. I just like the classic Corvette look.

That's what I thought initially ..... but first look at C8 at the opening presentation and I was sold.
I really like C8 .... except for one big thing ... no manual ... I don't care how much faster a paddle shift is ... still not as much fun as a real manual.

And I will continue to laugh in your face. Especially since you're calling a DCT a "granny-shifting slushbox." That's just rich.
The C8 is a fantastic car and a fantastic deal. Last year it was possible to get one for a hair under $57k. Prices have obviously gone up, but even so that's a hell of a lot of car for the money, and that's before any of the Z06 or ZR1 or whatever else models come in. I was at the Petersen for the public reveal and got to see one in Elkhart Lake Blue. Brilliant stuff. Won't stop me from buying C4s, but I'm not delusional enough to think that the C4 is even on the same planet like some people.
Seen many C8’s and just like in 84 Corvette turned the sports car world upside down the C8 has done the same. They should’ve gone mid engine way back when Zora was saying to do so. Yeah, I’m old school with a C3 and a C4. Friend of mine that had owned many Vettes got one recently and loves it!

You remind me of a drug addict or alcoholic attempting recovery. You do so, so well for a decent period of time then **** it all up in one fleeting moment.
It's alright. The cockpit feel is back which is nice but was a little tight for me. The high door/inability to comfortably rest my arm on it and drive and the other new safety features make it a tad uncomfortable for me. Not my cup of tea but I was considering ordering one before I saw it. Just because I figured why not have something I don't have to care about breaking down and fixing out of pocket... the one I test drove was still in break in so my feelings about the DCT are probably because of that but it definitely felt like it was delayed between when I clicked for the next gear and when I got it. I know they alter the torque management or whatever they call it now so that could very well be it for whyit seemed that way. The hard top convertible woth the flat back is the more visually appealing to me. And they actually have an engine bay that looks nice and well done do I give them a ton of credit on that.
Otherwise it was just a quick little 2 mile loop because I really wasn't supposed to test it but my friend let it slide as the guy taking delivery was okay with it. Didn't push it or anything but if I'm not sold by the time I'm out of the parking lot I'm... well not sold... thats why I ended up with a new truck lol. I sat in it before the test drive, gave him my build sheet and said "build it or find one optioned out like that". And I owned it 3 days later.
I like it, but I don't love it. It's performance is definitely top notch, but aesthetics leave a bit to be desired, IMO of course. I love the front end, and I like the side, but the rear of the car is just so-so. Some round exhaust tips would help it out tremendously. I'm a-ok with it being mid engine, I'm sure GM will get the overall performance to a whole new level with it as they make changes over the years. Heck, the Z06 will probably slay far more expensive, high end sports cars then ever before. My only other gripe is that the Z06 will lose the awesome V8 sound(much like the C8.R). I always liked how Corvettes still had that V8 American muscle power plant and sound, despite being a sports car. I still miss the sound of the Pratt and Miller C6.R! Oh well, can't have it all I suppose. I'd still own one if it where possible!
I like it! But I like it even more track prepped. There's a thread in the road racing section titled how does the C8 hold up on a road course. Some nice pictures in there!
I had a C6 and now own a C7. The C8 is not growing on me. I really don't care for the looks of the car, especially the rear end and side view. I also rarely see one out being driven. I'm not sure where the owners are hiding them.
When I first saw it in red at the reveal I loved it but knew I would never own one since no manual available. Seeing one in person I hate it except from a side angle. The steering wheel and interior setup is atrocious but material quality is beautiful imo. Having said that I'm glad they made it for the majority and the technology....
It doesn’t look like a corvette in my opinion they are channeling Italian sports cars. It used to be you could see a Vette from a mile away and make no mistake what it is. Not any longer.
again, just my opinion

Imitation is the sincerest from of flattery. For the right price, I would get it. I'd like to see how this design works out first or if they cheaped out on it like the wheels. Do I care that you can't distinguish it from a mile away? Not really. I don't need others to know what I drive as long as I know what I drive. Probably prefer it that way.
There's a LOT of them here. Like, I see one at least daily. They have not grown on me at all. They're ugly to me from most views. The dsg only is a sign it's more for a stat sheet bragged than a driving enthusiast. It's less practical, the interior is gimmicky, and it should be a foot shorter in length to me. It's fast, but not really that much faster than a lot of cheaper stuff, though corvette has a quickly eroding value prop VS mustang and others.
Personally, if I wanted a mid engine car, I'd buy a used Gallardo. But I don't want a midengine car. The C8 is in my eyes, a Corvette in name only.
Also, 58k? Please, nobody got one for that. They didn't make many no options cars, let alone sell them under msrp. Most were sold well over the $80k mark. For that money... I'd buy a 911 or viper.

It looks like a Grand Theft Auto version of a Mclaren. Like a cheap alibaba ripoff, just legally different enough to not get sued.
