Initially I thought mine were plug and play. They are, but with a * Looks like the fog lights come on at the same time, and the brights are on as well. I hit the fog light button, and lights work normally. I'm debating buying some anti-flicker harnesses, or I might just get a project HID kit which should be plug and play, and eliminate the aforementioned issues.
I went with some eBay cheapies, and they illuminate the road much better than the single candle power halogens that were on my 94 when I got it.
I love the light pattern of my GE Nighthawks. I did the ground circuit on the the fog light relay so the headlights do not affect the fog lights and vise versa. Very simple.
My understanding is that you need to ground the fog light relay for LED headlights to work. Otherwise you need the resistors to make up the difference in the load. To me installing LED's and using resistors defeats the purpose of LEDs.
So far I've converted all the external lights on my 1996 to LEDs, but I haven't yet tacked the head lights. I've done some research though
Look up the circuit doctor fix, that’s what I did.
By far the best solution IMO. No giant/hot resistors nor modification of the OEM wiring in any way…and everything functions OEM including the fog lights turning off when high beams are on.
With the circuit doctor fix there is NO additional load outside of the LEDs until you put your brights on, then there is a small draw from the tiny bulb.
