I dig that wacky color and noticed it has sport seats before I saw the RPO sheet. Z51 is kickass, I would if you like it. As another mentioned, if you put 10-20k miles more on it...it still will retain value I would think.

My pal bought his '00 Expedition from a SWA pilot, same ****. Stacks of records and in excellent shape.

Z51, KC4, Sport seats, 4+3 manual trans

Any idea if it is an aluminum 128 head car yet?

The color isn't for me, but that really is just taste.

Overall it seems like a solid buy!

I have an 85 & an 89. I really enjoy both of them. both are low milage & well-maintained cars. Remember that your car is pushing 40 years old. The vintage electronics can be troublesome. Most likely, the sound system will need to be repaired or as in my case, upgraded with a modern system. The Bose system electronics did not age well. Replaced outer rubber door seals on both of mine. I would suggest having it checked by someone who is familiar with these cars before you buy.
Good luck with your quest.

The valve covers are the center bolt style which I’ve read is an indication of aluminum heads.
-not my first choice in color either…I do love the gold on a 2nd gen Trans Am though.
but it’s growing on me for the corvette

That appears to be a really nice, well sorted out car. The L98 with aluminum heads is a “punchy” motor and a lot of fun to drive. It’s equipped right too. This car still has a lot of enjoyment left in it, and that’s what its all about.

After seeing the pictures, the car appears to be very well sorted and in amazing condition overall! The car has the best options in my book and would be an incredible car to own.

My advice is this: Go and drive the gold 86. See how you like the car and how well you connect with it. Then, go and drive a later car that you're also considering. See which one pulls at your heart strings. I've owned an 86 with a 4+3 and aluminum heads and it was one heck of a good car. Plenty of power and it rode and drove very well. I also own a 93 6spd and a 95 6spd. Both have their ups and downs. I owned a 94 6spd for years. Loved the car, but it was somewhat problematic. My 86 never gave me much trouble. I also own an 84 4+3 that I love to drive. It also has its good points and bad points. Overall, I live with the things I don't care for and the issues it has because overall, I love the car so much. My 93 runs and drives great, but it has plenty of things that need fixed or replaced. Still love the car though. So definitely drive a couple of cars and let your heart decide.

I have a an 86 4+3 vette with the aluminum heads. To me it is an awesome car. I would go for it you will not regret buying it. Have you taken it for an extended drive? Have you pulled the trigger as of yet? Car looks to be in fantastic shape. Good Luck...Cheers.

Read the owner's manual when you get it. Some C4's required a GM pill in the radiator when you changed the antifreeze.

I love my 85, but I did convert it to a 6 speed. It's also a Z51 so the ride is stiff. The handling is very good and the car tracks very well even in the rain.

It was a basket case when I got it 15 years ago but love it.

A huge plus even with a worked engine the car gets really great gas mileage on the highway.
