I really love the red with white lettering... Are the letters stickers or paint? Looks very sharp! Are you worried about heat damaging the enamel?
The letters are painted on. That's what took most of the time. I ended up painting the whole cover red, and after I clear coated it, I sprayed it white and then took a lint free cloth and a little bit of solvent and wiped the paint off so only the letters were white. Took 3 tries to get it right. I'm not sure if the heat will do anything to the paint. I used the same enamel paint on my rear break calipers and they have been fine for over 2 years now. I hope the paint holds up.
Have you painted with a spray gun before? I haven't. I wonder how hard it is.
yes, I did paint couple of cars long time ago, but those were old cars and I only did it to learn a little about painting. This really wasn't too bad, because the parts are small. And, even if you make a mistake, you can always wet sand and do it again. Because I was painting everything in the garage, and it isn't dust free, I ended up wet sanding after every coat of paint and clear coat.
