EGR pipe doesn’t carry any coolant, strictly gases. So I understand correctly, the coolant was pooling under the pipe, just above the valve cover there?

@TaurusFergie have you checked the threads for where that adjacent line that was mentioned by @2011KLR meets the lower intake?
Can't imagine it is the hose clamp given where it meets the fixed line. Here is a thread of other members discussing its necessity towards cooling. My takeaway is that it could be capped without issue but please read and make your own conclusions!
