I need help with new springs for my 1986 c4 corvette convertible.
When I do a little searching online I get info that the front springs for 85 to 87 are compatible. But springs from an 88 and up do not fit an my 86.
I want to buy a new one as mine is defective. But I don't want to change the height of the car
I've seen some new ones for sale that describe them as fitting all C4 models.
Does anyone have good knowledge about this?
84 to 87 are different on the front. 88 to 96 are the same but different years and suspension packages make one stiffer than the other. If you like a soft ride the 95 96 are the softest. But if you liked the ride you had, there should be numbers stamped into the spring on the bottom so you can find which spring rate you have. Then go with the same one. Google your year and find spring ID numbers and where they're at, or call a vendor you use for their help in selling you the right one.
Later front springs fit the earlier cars just fine, there’s about a 1/2 inch difference
Disregard my post, i was wrong. I thought he wanted to know if there was a difference. I guess the half inch is of no concern. Sorry again for the false information.
