I'm gonna give it some more thought, but I'm leaning towards keeping the GS now.

I go through the same thing myself every few months. Most recently last Thursday when I stopped in at the local vette dealer and started chatting with the salesman about a nice 01 Z they had. It definitely clouds the judgement when the car is sitting right in front of you!

In the end, I can't seem to be convinced to part with this car. It's just too much fun!

Trade my car in for a C5? FRC/6-speed, I think I wouldn't feel as bad about racing it or doing stuff to it? What do you think?
For a FRC, No, But for a Z06, Yes! :yesnod:

Thats a tuff one. Before you decide either way look into the problem with rings the LS1s can have causing them to consume oil. I heard they TSB ed some early LS1 vettes for that problem and have a bud with a 98 TA he found a chunk of ring in an oil change. This concerns me. I understand that by 2002 they had it fixed but most 97-01 cars are out of warranty by now. Just somethin you might want to ask about before you commit. Besides dont you like taking the roof off? :D

My second post on this topic after thinking about it overnight!!

KEEP THE GS. That LT4 is one helluva car. Ain't that many around either. C5's will be a dime a dozen in a few years(which i think someone else posted earlier on here).

Keep the GS, buy a C5 later. As far as racing the GS, like others said, who are you saving it for? DRIVE IT! :yesnod:

I like the idea of keeping the GS and buying an older L98 or LT1 and modding the hell out of that. It would be much more fun to mod, and cheaper too. Get one with non-perfect paint, and you won't worry about it so much.

I modify and race mine, but keep it spotless. The only GS cars that will draw the big money are the 10 mile ones. Why keep the car stock? As long as your not modifying the body it can all be put back to stock. I'm not saving my car for the next owner (which I have no plans to sell!) I'm enjoying my car now, life is too short. When we get our C5 it will be modded as well. We don't even have it yet and I have a corner of the garage with parts and plans started for the winter :D
I could never see why someone would buy a Vette just to let it rot away in a garage never to be driven. It's much more fun racing them, and driving them than looking at them in the garage!

NO WAY! If I was you, I would keep the GS, wait a couple of years, save up some money, and get another Vette, C5 or C6, to sit beside the GS in the garage. :yesnod:

:iagree: I think thats what I'm going to do, wait until I'm out of flight school and have a safe job, and then buy a used 02-04 Z06, or get a FRC and have LG give me thier G5X-1 cam, ether way my C5 is going to be a race slave :D  Thanks guys, you talked me out of a not so good idea.

I'll have to also say keep the GS. I also agree with the idea of getting a C5 when the prices come down in a few years - that is my plan.
