As for looks..the C5 is hot..but that GS of yours is pretty hot too.
As for modding either the C5 or the LT4 ..is there a large price difference between Modding the 2..and if it is..will that play a role in your buying the C5 or keeping the LT4?
This question will probably be the most important ...are you tired of your LT4 and ready for a change? Just be ready to stand by your decision which ever it may be.
But hey..your switching from a vette to a vette...how can you go wrong with that strategy??
Trade my car in for a C5? FRC/6-speed, I think I wouldn't feel as bad about racing it or doing stuff to it? What do you think?
Keep it, do like I did and get the C5 and then begin to mod the GS to run like it looks :D "feel bad about racing it" <---I think it looks best when on a race track. :reddevil

Must be nice to have your problems
When I was 19 I was worried about passing my mid terms or final exams. I sure as hell didn't have the money for a Vette (and I worked 30+ hours a week for my 6 years of college)......
Well, I think you need to decide what you want. Do you want the C5 because you think it looks better, is newer, rides nicer, or doesn't rattle? Or do you just want something you won't feel bad about beating on? If that's the case, you could just keep the GS, drive it only on nice days, and get a well-used L98 car to do mods on. Then you can autocross it and drag race it to your heart's content, and still have the pristine GS to come home to.
Seriously though, I think if you get rid of the GS, you will have the same dilemma with a new C5. It seems like you a person who takes pride in keeping your vehicles well-maintained, and I just don't see how you would feel "guiltless" about racing and modifying any new car. I'm the same way. I'd like to autocross my '94, but it's so nice I'd hate to tear it up (at least while I'm still making payments on it :D ). Anyway, if you are concerned about not doing the GS justice by screwing with the originality, don't worry about it. There's nothing on the car that can't be put back to original. I think I'd rather enjoy it now than preserve it for other people to look at 20 years down the road.
Let me put it this way, when you're at the Corvette Museum and see all those wonderful cars, what do you say in your mind? "Boy, I'd love to take that beauty for a test drive." No one says, "I'd love to preserve that car in a plastic bubble in my garage." Life is short, you can't take it with you. Enjoy your Grand Sport
Unless it was a Z06 I wouldn't think of it. And even then I'd be on the fence.
:iagree: But I would add that a Z06 would be a definite upgrade (having driven both). No fricken way on a standard C5...you would be taking a step backwards.
Your GS is pretty sharp, gonna draw more looks then a FRC C5 IMHO, at least from the people who actually know something about these cars.
The C5 market will be a buyers paradise in about 2-3 years. If you want a C5 you should wait until the C6 come out and then C5's get unloaded at dealers.

Keep the GS! It's a much better car, IMO, and it looks like it belongs on the track. I think you should mod it, but it still has plenty of power stock. I'm with the others who think if you want a C5, keep the GS, wait a few years until the C5 prices come down and you possibly have more money :yesnod:
Keep the Grand Sport!!! There's no comparision between the 2 IMHO. I guess it just all depends on your reasoning. But, do you want to keep a car that will most likely be in a classic, or buy one that will depreciate $7K a year like our 2000 has? Just buy an older C4 and mod and race it! :yesnod:
I do know what you mean about racing the GS etc. By choice my GS is off limits from autocrossing :cry and modifying :cry :cry . Our C5 is for go and the GS is for show.
keep the GS!! I went on a cruise with 12 other vettes a few weeks ago, every time I looked back no matter how far away that GS was I could spot it. When it was in front, it hypnotized me. GS rocks!!
