Thanks for the list!!!!!
I had trouble reading the service label it is pretty worn.
I met a guy tonight at our local vet club. He told me I shoud have "F" codes to determine if Z51. I'll double check the N/A.
He also told me if I had a "C" shaped sway bar in the back it was a Z51.
Thanks again Jerry
PS The article in the Dec 93 issue of Corvette Fever states that the Z51 handling pkg was included.
Thanks Scoob. You saved me $40 at this time from buying a built list at the Corvette Museum.
Don't take it personally I'm just hoping it is a Z51 or I will be disappointed.
Where did you get all the good RPO info anyways?
Jerry
I've just been collecting the list as I've gone along in this hobby. In the beginning I had a lot of gaps but as time went on people were helpful in filling those gaps. Now I have a pretty complete list. Not 100% as I still get stumped once in a while.
If you look at this chart http://www.vettenet.org/susp_chart.html you'll see te differences in the spring rates between the '86 FE1 and Z51 options. While I prefer Z51 I wouldn't kick myself for not having it. You've got the 3.07 gears which are better than the 2.73, imho.
Unfortunately I don't have one of the 20. The RPO code for Z51 is FE7, which I don't have, therefore I got the Base suspension.
Thanks for all your help and the list. Jerry
Z51 is the code for the package which includes: FE7 (the suspension), B4P (radiator boost fan), FG3 (Delco-Bilstein shocks), KC4 (engine oil cooler), V01 (heavy duty radiator), and faster steering ratio.
This was a good learning experience for me.
I hope that Gary Konner emails me back. I want to hear it from the horses mouth why only 20 of the 50 were Z51 especially when he was quoted in the 1993 CF as stating they all had the special handling PKG. I'll get over it but I am disappointed it doesn't have the Z51. Take care Jerry
Jerry, keep us posted as to what he says. I'm always interested to hear stories of the unique Vettes.
I wouldn't sweat too much over the non-Z51 thing. It still handles like it's on rails so it's not like you've got an inferior product. And who knows, you might not even like the Z51 springs. A lot of people think the Z51 rides too harsh and ends up causing more rattles in the car.
If you ever get the opportunity to get to the Corvettes at Carlisle event in Carlisle, PA (in August) you'll likely see someone with an MK there. For the past 3 years running I've seen one there.
