I have a pic of what they look like. Found an interesting article in an old copy of Corvette Fever April 2002. In 1986 GM produced a RPO 4001ZA option. It was called the Konner Special Edition. It was a one time run for the top selling Corvette Dealership, ( now defunct ) Malcolm Konner Chevrolet In New Jersey. They were the first and last dealer to have an RPO unique to itself. They were two-tone Silver Beige Metalic top and Black paint on the lower half. Special badging on the hood and gas filler door. Total production was 50 cars. Anybody ever see one, probably on the east coast.
..There were no performance upgrades, just badges and paint....
Quoting from "Corvette Milestones" by Mike Mueller, "Late in 1986, the first in a series of truly tough Corvettes appeared on the lot of a New Jersey Chevrolet dealership founded by Malcolm Konner."
I wonder why the word tough is used, if there were no performance upgrades?
There were 50 made. All were coupes. 20 had 4+3, 30 had autos. 20 had Z51, equally distributed between autos and 4+3's. One became the first Calloway Twin Turbo Conversion.
Thats it. The rest discusses the special paint and other details....
There were *supposedly* 51 Konner optioned cars although 50 were *made*
Not quite sure what that means  but it was listed in the facts & figures somewhere.
Special 2 tone paint , some sticks, some automatics...
Special badging (emblems)
There was a lady about a year ago who asked many of the same questions you are as there does not seem to be a whole lot of info out there on these cars (The ONLY Vette dealer to ever get their own option  )
Performance wise, no faster / no slower than any other 86 Vette - they do however, have a serious Cool factor and are one of the best color combos out there.
The only one that is a tire blazer is the M. Konner that was sent back to Old Lyme to be converted to the *only 86 Callaway Twin Turbo* :steering:
Mine is auto but I thought they were all Z51. How do I find out if mine is Z51?
Open up the center console armrest - if it is a Z51, it will say so on the "RPO" label Service parts label is how it is printed... and it has rows of codes - Z51 will be near the end
