150mph with the top off in OD
162mph shifting manually top on, and I ran out of room still accellerating pretty good as I was in my power band in 3rd gear with my 2.59's :yesnod:
I think I need to put the top on and try that again! Amazing what a difference it makes! :seeya
Its really not that bad. 135 is just when I left off, it would easily go faster. If you don't have a hatch vent though I'd put your side windows up all the way and then lower each one about 1". It helps air buffeting from the hatch.
I shifted into third in the 90mph range while I was heading for a corner on a road I always drove on. Saw 110 before I decided it was time to slow down. Thouhgt I had enough road but the well-known corver came up REAL quick. The stock brakes suck on my 87. I scared myself and will not go fast again with the stock binders. Yikes! :nono:
Vett92_1,
I don't recognise the name but there are some fast Lightnings that run. The fastest truck I have seen is Tom Ciancitto's 1937 Ford F1 powered by a Chevy V-6. He averaged 157.22 with a trap speed of 166.This truck sounds so cool as it goes by.
Jeffy'
I got up to 138 once but with my 3:73's and A4 I'd run out of gear before HP...I get to go over 100 legally and repeatedly twice every month......... at the drag strip :D
There's a differince in STABLE and HOLDING ON FOR LIFE.I was in a cop 5.0 pony car NERER again It was shakeing so hard I swer parts were falling off? My stealth I had at 135mph 4gear SOLID as a rock  My vette 2days old for me, idk :  But someday I will.
In my 87 Coupe: 110 mph and almost missed my exit. In the Dodge Duster 340 (automatic) I had when I was younger and reckless: 140 mph while creaming a Mustang with a 289 High Performance engine and standard tranny. :D :D :D
132 in a '75 Trans Am when I was younger (18 years ago? yikes!!). The speedo only goes to 100 on the old TA's, so a friend of mine ran alongside in his Porsche to clock me. Solid as a rock. Don't think I've broken 100 since (except in the B-52, where I've seen over 500 knots groundspeed with a good tailwind). :flag
