Default Max Speed

So I was :steering: down I-84 along the incredibly beatiful Columbia River Gorge here in the NW, and on a very straight, smooth, and traffic free section, I went WOT until I felt like I should slow it down.

Speed? 130mph  That's the fastest I've had it so far on public roads. Got me wondering, what crazy speed have you guys attained? I'm not promoting or condoning speeding, but we all do it to some degree. So what's you're max?

230 Kph/142mph a couple times which isn't as bad as it sounds on the Autostrada the speed limit is 100mph...and the Vette had more in her.

I found some fresh pavement outside St. Augustine, 4 lanes(two each way) with a large grass divide, no on around, did 142 mph and held it. That was it.
I did 142 a couple of times later on along I-95, no traffic.
But, she is getting old so I never push her beyond 130 mph.
:auto:
Oh, with the targa off, windows up I did 125 mph on the Beeline.

My 130 was with Targa off, and windows down. I wonder how much sooner I would have hit 130, and how fast I could have gone if windows were up and Targa on...

The Zr-1 is 185.6 on a open road
The Open Road Racecar 192.2 in a Open Road Race.

If you guys want to go fast away from a closed track where the sissy boys play(just kidding guys, I know not everyone has access to Open Road Races) come out to Nevada for Open Road Racing. Two companys put these on. See http://www.openroadracing.com
or http://www.silverstateclassic.com
We have a race 2.5 weeks in Battle Mountian plenty of room left for people that want to see what their cars will do.

161 mph in a 94 Z07, going up hill and still gaining when I let off. Kirk, this was on the Sunset highway (26) between Banks and North Plains. Haven't been past 150mph in the ZR-1's yet but the time will come. :D

I have heard of that open road race, I have a friend that supposedly has officially the fastest truck in america that he set in that road race. His name is Stan Martin and drives a modified Ford Lightning. Ever heard of him?

If I can remember correctly I think in the range of 139-142mph. Still smooth and doesn't shake :D

Why 65mph of course, it's the maximum allowed!

Ok, the truth......only about 110, soon to be higher,if I can find the right road to do it! ;)
