Default Installed Manual Antenna Switch.

Here are the pics of the switch install several of you IMd me about. If you look at the wiring diagrams there is a pink wire that sends the power to the antenna relay. IT IS NOT THE SINGLE LONE PINK WIRE. It is the pink wire that is part of the wire bundle that is the main plug. I tapped into pink wire on the Car side of the plug. This is on my 85 so I dont know about other years.

The mounting of the rocker switch looks a bit odd but its the only spot that had the clearance for the wires and back side of the switch. It has an LED that I hooked up but it was so bright that it was way too much, so I disconnected it.

All in all it looks ok and it works good. Nice part is, so far in town I have not had to even raise the antenna as the reception is good without it. I'm sure that will change on a road trip.

At least now I know I will have a longer life on the antenna (not sure how long it has anyway).

Easy job only took about 45 minutes for the solder and everything involved.

Oh...I started with a toggle switch, went to a large lighted rocker switch (looked rice) and ended up with what you see. Actually...no light is needed at all.

Looks good!!Your trick was faster and a WHOLE lot easier than mine! I got the bright idea to do the same thing. But I went a step further. I have an '85 4+3. Overdrive switch on the console. Went to the local junk yard, bought a later '85 shifter ($50) with the switch in the ****. Moved the wires from the console to the shifter. Then thought, well, I've already got everything tore apart, I'll hook the antenna wire (same as you, on back of radio) to the now unused overdrive switch. Viola` Can't tell I changed a thing! Now if I could just get a switch for the 1st gear lockout on the transmission, it'd be perfect.
