Front Spring Compressor Tool
Anyone ever see the front spring compressor tool diagrammed in the factory shop manual? Part number is J33432. Or for that matter anyone know if one is available to rent? Its a long shot question, just had to ask.....
Should I get really lucky and somebody has, or knows of one that is available to rent, please post here, IM or email me..

You don't need it.
Just put front of the car on jackstands remove a wheel, support the spring load (lower control arm) with a floor jack (watch out for the zerk fitting), pull the lower ball joints, disconnect the shock, and slowly lower the floor jack to relieve spring tension.
The shock extended limit is what keeps the spring from moving everything too far and tearing the ball joints out.

You really don't need it. What are you up to Steve ??
Thanks a million for the disc.
Your welcome
The wife saw the post of your Vette up on jack stands and freaked on me. So to put her mind at ease, I promised I'd try to find a spring tool to keep her from locking me out of the garage!
After reading everyones posts, it appears that lots of height and being careful is the key. The process is just like the removing the rear spring. One side at a time. Slow and easy...
Looking at your post, would it be easier to have the car level?

:nonod: That would bring the front end down and you want it as high and safe as humanly possible
