I was looking through my VB catalog this evening and came across the C-4 camber brace. I look at this thing and think it looks like something I would use on my car cause I like to hit the twisties now and then. A piece of square tube with a couple of tabs welded on the ends, can't cost too much. Then I see the price of $200 and think who in their right mind would pay that kind of money for something that some kid could make in shop class for ten bucks. Are we paying for years of R&D and testing here or what? Hell, the C-3 spreader bar kit has spherical ends and is adjustible and cost less than half than the C-4 unit. What gives?
Only about 1/2 this forum!! From what I've read & heard, R&D makes a standup, grade A quality pc.
:withstupid: :withstupid:
I did... twice!
I'm hoping Dave will chime in here, but the only thing you'll get is a bunch of Corvette & Camber Brace owners that love this product! The Camber Brace was borne out of racing. Dave marketed his product to weekend racers and performance enthusiasts.
BTW, go fabricate one yourself, from scratch. Be sure you choose the correct materials, bend and weld everything to within a millimeter keeping in mind installation (and removal if needed) with the "common joe" mechanic simplicity. Then powder coat it to ensure corrosion resistance and nice appearance. Write up a detailed instruction procedure, design effective packaging, and offer nearly instant tech support.
Come back and tell us if it was worth $200.
Shawn: The many, the proud, the R-D Racing Camber Brace (and Cross Bar) owners!  :smash:
I'm sure it is, but come on, $200. I think some one on this board could make one just as good for a lot less. To me it's just another example of a vender putting it too Corvette owners.

Ummmm.... before you go and make extremely general statements, you might just want to meet this "Vendor". I have, and it was an honor and privlidge. He is a one to three-man shop and the products he produces are products that he has produced for his own car for track racing. He offers them up for sale to others that want to utilize his expertise and skills in making something that we can use.
This vendor is a working (hard working would still be an understatement!) man with a family, a regular full time job and a Corvette as a hobby. Midnight is an early quitin' time for Dave. Yes, I admire him and what he has done. Thanks again Dave!

In case you don't read everything on this Forum, it only cost members here $160.00. My distributors such as Vette Brakes, Mid-America, and Ecklers all sell the "Camber-brace" for $199.95 per agreements with my company to offset their cost of advertising and make a small profit to stay in business.
I invite you to design and develop your own version. There is a lot more involved than what you can see in a picture. I'll guarantee you that our's will be cheaper in the long run.
Feel free to call me anytime if you have any questions.
RD-Racing offers specials to the forum members from time-to-time. There's a GP going on right now in which you can get it for $160.
BTW, the cost of the materials is trivial, but unless you can cut, bend and weld one up yourself (or get someone to do it for free) The $160 price is is a good deal.
I have to say the price is worth it for R-D Racing stuff. I have both the Cross-bar and the Camber-brace is on the way. My cross-bar looks great and I could feel the different the second I took the car out for a drive. The instructions are great, and everything just fit, the first time! I'm willing to pay for quality and not having to fight with parts to get them to install like they are suppose to. I can't say I've had such a good experiance with other performance parts I've bought before.

I only got to drive my car for about a week with it installed before I had to leave (again), but, without a doubt, it was the best sub-$200 mod I've made to my car. Hell, it was better than some of the $200+ mods I've done to my car.
