Tinted Windows are the way to go!! I went with 5% all-around on my 89. Looks pretty good on a Dark Navy Car with the Chrome shining.
On a more practical note, the interior is cooler in the summer and headlights no longer blind me when they glare through the back hatch. However, it is considerably tougher to see through the back at night.
FYI...Total cost = $130, and I've had no problems with peeling when I use the rear defrost.
Your views and comments on having tinted windows on a C4 or other Corvette.
In this state it's a MUST! The original owner put mine on, but I would've done it anyway. I've seen too many interiors fade completely white from the sun! I don't even use the clear top because it's too hot in the sun!
Back hatch glass, passenger and drivers side windows. Do you like it, would you do it? Benefits and disadvantages.
It totally changes the look for the better!
I haven't had any problems with headlights in the rear view, especially with the lowered car. I guess I'm used to it because all my rides sport the tint.
i bought my 86 from florida, so of course the windows were tinted :D but what percentage? i have no clue, but not as dark as i'd like them to be.
TINTED WINDOWS =
you guys will probably think im nuts when it comes to tint. Ive had mine done 6 times in the last 3 years! 3 of those times the windows got knicked by a careless friend, 1nce by a mechanic . Most of the times i could never decide what level tint to go with. Ive ended up with the darkest possible. And i love it. too light or even medium tint in my opinion doesnt look good because of the black border on the hatch. it makes the windows look like they dont line up. heres a pic..
Does anyone have their windshield tinted as well? I know it's not supposed to be done right?
You can only have an "eyebrow" or a little strip of tint at the very top of the windshield, personally I don't like it, sure it does a great job getting rid of sunlight shining in your eyes but I think it looks deformed...
Some people actually do tint the front windshield, its very illegal though, you wont pass inspection, tickets, and most of all dangerous.... I actually see it more often then some would think when people come into my job with there show cars.... Seemsto be a show car thing todo.
I think the eyebrow over the windshield gives is a good look.... I had it on my 91... and gettint he 96 fully tinited and plan on doing that as well.... 20% on the side and 5% on the back, My other car was 5% all teh way.. night driving was a little hard to see... Ill go with 20%, If i dont like it, ill have my guy go down to 5%.... gotta love free window tinting
Tinted windows might look "cool" and sure, they keep some sun of your leather seats, BUT .....
Sometimes I'm driving into an intersection or even coming to a driveway where there is car moving like it's going to drive out in front of me. I look at the driver, hoping to make eye contact so that I know he has seen me. If the other car has even a lightly tinted window, I can't see into the other car to try to tell if the other driver has seen me!!!
That usually scares the *hit out of me!!! I can either lay on the horn or jump on the brakes, cause I can't figure out if the guy has seen me or not.
When I was riding street bikes, I especially didn't like dealing with a tinted car for the same reason ... can't tell if the guy is looking in his mirror to know that I was there.
Tinted windows might look cool and I see I'm in the minority, but I sure wouldn't tint mine!!
