Ok..I get your point. I guess we've just been married too long to worry about that, althought my husband has already asked about breaking it in..if you know what I mean!? I guess we'll have to take the roof off.
Well before I bought my Vette I was looking for a manual but they were difficult to find... I ended up buying my beautiful '85 that was in amazing condition and was automatic... I had done plenty of research and auto was best for me because it would be lower in cost to repair (since the 4+3's) were complex and expensive, I was going to work on it a lot and made it easier not to worry about shifting, clutches etc, plus the auto's did better on the track when stock (never misses a shift). Though a manual would be nice if I raced it,automatic is PERFECT was cruising which is what I shall be dooooing a lot of! :auto: Now if I ever get a Z06, then that 6 speed will be fine...
Hi Amy, I drive a (well, I'm trying to get it ready to drive) 1991 coupe. I have a thread on the forced induction section under Procharged Big Block. I used to be an attorney for OSF Healthcare System in Peoria..moved to Indy three + years ago. Where do you work?
Now, if I could only talk my wife into breaking my car in.....
I had a Saleen Mustang 5 speed before I bought my 95 vette with auto. The manual was fun for a while but it got old real quick in traffic. I like to just cruise in my vette for the most part, letting it rip every now and then. I don't miss the manual, but I catch a lot of grief from people for having a auto in a vette. What ever floats your boat!

Yeah, no $h*t, huh? People are just to narrow minded. They think "Vette is fast", "Auto trans is slow", thus vette with auto causes some sort of brain malfunction in them...
It's still a Vette and it's still fast! Just short a few gears...
Not to be cynical, but notice there's a new post about "4+3 problems" that only reassures my purchase of an automatic for my year... Manuals are sweet but my pockets aren't deep enough for drastic repairs. Hope it gets it fix ASAP cause it'll be spring soon! :auto:
I have one of each, and I am trying to decide which to get next. I love to drive the manual, but I sort of get tired of shifting. I think when I buy my next Corvette, when I find one like I want, year, color etc. I'll take it regardless of which transmission it has. I'll love it either way!
Oh....God.......Please let this thread DIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!! :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry !!! Let us see what we have learned many and I mean MANY times before this thread! FACTMost forum members think on a wide open road going through the curves a stick is more enjoyable over a automatic! FACT Every forum member Knows that a automatic over a manual with matching specifications will always! win at the drag strip with equal drivers! A proven fact! over and over again! Everyone knows that in traffic every forum member would rather have a automatic! All I am asking is PLEASE, PLEASEcan we wait at least 6 months before we bring this :_dupe: up again!!! :U :U :U :U :U I think our stomick will have calmed down by that time!!!! :leaving: :leaving: :leaving: :leaving: :leaving:
in a corvette i don't think a manual is needed to feel sporty and it doesn't hurt the car being auto like smaller engines it actually does bettter times in the 1/4 being auto. However, if I were to buy some little sports car like a mazda miata i WOULD want a stick since it's tiny and a 4banger.
Manual all the way. We also have a C3 with an automatic. The car is great but I just had to have a 6 speed! Found my 1990 here on the forum and couldn't be more satisfied with the purchase! This forum is incredible! Thanks to Bradvette!
the only way i will ever get an automatic sports car is if their is something physically wrong with me and i cant use the clutch or something. :iagree:
Or want to win any type of drag or speed event!!!   :bb :bb :bb

Well actually you are handicapped in the first place with out one :leaving: See you at the strip!!! :jester Oh..... and not to push the handicapped issue but there is spelled t-h-e-r-e in the way you just used it and I is in the capital form while standing by itself! Don't worry your issues don't require a automatic just a dictionary!
