I feel like I can give an honest opinion here since I own a C5 and a C4 and regularly drive both.
I could go into this long post about how you can't compare the 2 cause one is newer than the other.
But I'll just put the whole thing in a nutshell:
LOOKS - C4 is the winner
Everything else - C5 is the winner
By the way.....to me, the backend of the 91'-96' C4 looks better than any car in the history of the world :D

as a new owner maybe some of ya'll won't think I can say say a whole bunch, but I do favor the look of my C4 over the C5. And since my wife gave me the 90 vert, I've learned to appreciate the seat a little better.
I've sat in both topic cars (when driven to enjoy the talents of the ride) and most other flavors of the glass babe, owning it makes the impression more than just some thing to say "I'd rather this one over that one". I've been in and next to some real powerful vettes from both series... and none of them was stone stock. And all of them could woop my butt in my current pride and joy quasar blue vert.
As for which one is more powerful, the specs tell the tale... and I am NOT ashamed of mine. I didn't pick this one myself, but boy howdy am I happy my butt is in the pilot seat. I drive this this little cutie everyday I can, and will say I prefer the C4 (mid series production... like mine) convertible.
Ahhh...

If you're thinking about getting me another one...
Let me drive it before you bid on it...

If you like the power and handling of the Z06, but like the looks of the C4 better, then I might suggest you go drive a ZR-1. On the other hand, maybe you shouldn't, because then you will want one.
I like C5's, I wouldn't mind having one, but I love C4's.

There is no real comparison here. The Corvette just keeps getting better and that is what makes them special. I admit....if I could afford a ZO6, I would buy it today! I will say that I have no real desire to own less than a ZO6 C5, but I wouldn't turn any away. I do love my C4...and I wouldn't get rid of it. But I don't feel left behind.....I enjoy the Vette I have, and I enjoy being a Corvette Brother. much waves to all! :seeya
