I hit it.
168 MPH in a Winston Cup Car (Richard Petty Driving Experience, if you want to feel what it is like, safely, definitely do this!!)
Fastest in a street car:
135 mph in 1970 LT-1 Corvette
135 mph in 1992 Mustang GT
130 mph in 1990 Camaro RS V-6 (had it topped out!)
108 mph in 1993 Corvette
I have found that as I have gotten older (all of 33 now), I have started to drive a little slower (in regards to top speed). I know my Vette will do a heck of a lot more than 108 mph, but I don't see the need nor want the risk associated with higher speeds. I would rather keep it on a track in a vehicle really built for speed (i.e. Race car).

slightly over the austrian freeway speedlimit
(80mph/130km/h)feels rock solid, a bit noisy, but fun
and yes, she is still pulling!!!
maybe i get the chance to be on a complete free stretch of the german autobahn, and find out top speed.

Yes, opinions ARE like azzholes. Some of them make funny noises, and some of them just plain stink. I mean, if you're gonna jump in here with your banter, at least make it amusing for yourself, or us, or both. Otherwise, what is the point? Well, one thing you have going for you is your extensive vocabulary. You should use it in more productive ways than self-aggravation or painting a target on your back. If you just enjoy the attention, just say so, and I'll have more respect for you. Or don't say it... just keep coming back and tiring your fingers from typing... that works as well!
I mean, if you enjoy the attention, and we all enjoy giving you attention, then we all win!

as another dumb teenager (18yo) I was into fast cars before i had gone fast. and speaking of street racing never, never, never, have i been above 110 even when my friends drive street racing.
personally 147 with top up. 139 with top down. phoenix to heber to phoenix 2h 10min.

Oh, I don't know about that. My daughter just got her license and she drives like a little ole lady! Most kids I know don't want to be or act like their parents. I have never told her to speed up, that will come in time. She also drives slow when I'm not with her, I've watched her! So apparently my spirited driving has not had an impact on her. I get the biggest kick when she is riding with me, because when we are stopped and she's off guard, I purposely throw her back into the seat! Yeah, that's kinda a bad example too . . . don't get as good gas mileage when ya do that! lolol
I haven't thought of this as attention getting. I'm really not into that. I couldn't care less about attention, one way or the other. Or your respect for that matter. But people, like yourself, keep reading this thread and posting replies to it. Who am I to turn my back on that? (BTW, my Vette definitley handles better since I lowered the rear. Prolly should have it re-aligned just the same.)
Let me be perfectly clear on this... again.
I like this thread and threads like it, thanks for everyone's concern in that regard. But that's not the point, never was. I enjoy reading about the enthusiasts high speed adventures.
The point is that a grown man with limited experience driving at speed took an impressionable child on his triple digit dash
. She doesn't know any better, he should. Had there not been any mention of his "soon to be of driving age" daughter in the car with him you wouldn't even know I exist. Had he accepted that criticism as gracefully, as so many of you expect me to accept yours, you still wouldn't know I exist. And that would be fine with me. Flaming me doesn't make what he did any less questionable.
Wanna go fast? Knock yourself out! Wanna do it with somone in the right seat? PLEASE DON'T!

How many threads have been posted on this forum with titles like..."Brand New Vette Never Made it Home"?
N1kki's quote is mostly true. We own and drive exceptional autos. Those traits described above are accurate and can do wonders for lulling one into a false since of security. Especially the inexperienced Corvette driver. N1kki almost makes a point right up until the last sentence..."as long as there are no other cars around".
That's a great big IF! Thanks for the validation.
Traffic isn't he only hazard. Animals, moisture dripping from those A/Cs that just drove by. Oil and ATF that has leaked from the myriad of cars that aren't as well maintained as our Vettes (and some Vettes too). Windblown sand and debris. Darkness, law enforcement! We see these items on the road everyday. So often in fact that we don't see them at all.
And because of that 110mph is fast. It's very fast. At that speed MidLifecrisis Corvette covered 176 feet per second. More than half a football field in one second! Ask Mojo if he's ever sat in the UPS 10 mph collision demonstrator? That's a wicked jolt at just 10 mph. Imagine 11 times that!
We know the risks. If you choose to accept that risk then do it alone. And if you meet with unfavorable results, even if it's just a lil harmless criticism...don't cry. You have no one but yourself to blame.
So, you wanna go fast? Fine, don't take passengers!

Thats f-ing funny
