Default I hit it.

I was able to find a bit of open road and hit 110mph for the first time. Felt like I was doing 140. My daughter was in the car with me, she had a blast. I know I'm not setting a good example, she will be getting her permit soon. I always tell her, "Don't drive like your dad"

Nice work She's thankful because now she'll have ammunition for next tiime she breaks the law.

I've done 120 with the roof off, boy that was exciting. Felt like flying in a convertible jetliner.

you cover alot of ground quickly. I can't imagine what 140 or 150 would be like. Someday, I will get there by myself though.

125 in the 87 coupe, top off.
142 with it on.
Let's be careful out there.

Yeah, I've done 146 with the top on. Purely for scientific purposes of course.

Let's see how many other sly braggers show up to post here.

going 150 is easy in a lightning...i know i know this is a vette site but i have never been that fast in my vette. the hard part is slowing down in time for the jealous sunfire cutting you off.

I hit 115 mph once just to see what it could do. I didn't even have a foot all the way down on the pedal. I wanted to go faster but was afraid I would get caught. I gotta say the car feels much smoother going at higher speeds.

If you are ever in California look for HWY 505. Clear sailing to allow you to open it up. About a 50 mile stretch with barely any vehicles in sight.

At 150+ the lanes seem to get narrow and you start thinking about images of stock cars sailing end-over-end on a superspeedway and the fact that you don't have a 6pt roll cage and harness nor a crash crew standing by. My comfort level is still about 135 for any extended period. Any faster is too much stress.

My question is was the top off??

I'm usually get up to around a buck-five at the strip with windows up, top on and wearing a helmet. Once, in a Vette caravan, I had her up to a buck-five with the top off and it was a whole nother experience.

I agree about the bad example whole heartedly! Not one to preach but I would never think of endangering my daughter like that, especially at such an impressionable age. You know as soon as she gets her permit she's going to try doing what daddy did because it was so cool. She will remmeber the rush and try to copy it with her friends. Maybe she is very responsible but if you made it cool then it is to her. Just my .02 sorry, flame suit on. My only point is, if you're going to risk your life, and the unthinkable happens, do it alone.

My son just got his license. When he is w/ me in the vette I always look at him right before I mash the pedal and say" don't ever do this." LOL. What I should say is "don't get caught." Guy

Oh the Corvette 50th Caravan...they routed us several different ways to the casino in Indiana we were to stay...

They we were, about 30 Vettes on a 2 lane deep in Kentucky, a hairpin turn and the Z06 I was following took off....
I of course went WOT, in an attempt to keep up...

the wife sez... is it floored?

YUP

why is he getting away?

that's a Z06 I figure he's good for nearly 185...

when will you left off the gas?

When I see his brake lights

just then, at the crest of the hill, his brake lights come on,
I let off the gas, check the "Atari" dash,

and she sez, How fast was that?

137

Is that the fastest you've been?

YUP

coasted to the top of the hill @ about 90, the Z06 was cresting the next. Caught the caravan in the next town.

Late bloomer. It took no less than 10min for me to hit 110 in mine. Waiting for the next Texas Mile in Aug before I find out how fast she will really go.
